Speaking about climate change it should be stressed that there are two points of view on the problem. Thus, the US government is constantly searching ways how to combat climate change and unite the whole world in this issue. However, there are critics of the climate change who state that the problem does not exist.
The US President Barack Obama stresses in his speech that when it comes to climate change, there is such a thing as being too late. He states that over the last years the country has done much to combat climate change. It has been working to use less dirty energy and waste less energy. It also generated wind power, and more solar power in 2015 than in 2008. The country has reduced carbon pollution more than any other country of the world ("President Barack Obama's Climate Change Plan 2015 (HD) Full Speech" n.p.).
However, even more actions have to be taken in order to save the environment and prevent climate change. Moreover, it is not only the problem of the USA but also the problem of the whole world. Thus, other countries have to participate as well to make the life better for the next generations. Amarica’s Clean Power Plan is the America’s most important step against the climate change. In 2013, Barack Obama directed the Environmental Protection Agency to take on the challenge of carbon pollution from power plants. Thus, each state can come up with its own plan and ideas on how to reduce pollution in its areas. According to the Amarica’s Clean Power Plan, the pollution from power plants will be 32% lower by 2030 than a decade ago. Barack Obama also stresses that America is the country that leads the whole world in resolving the issue with climate change, and that is the main aim of the plan as it is impossible for a country to solve this issue on its own. America is also working on the international climate agreements ("President Barack Obama's Climate Change Plan 2015 (HD) Full Speech").
While the American’s government is working hard on the problem of climate change and is implementing plans to reduce the pollution, there are critics who believe that there is no problem with climate. Fred Singer states that climate is “a phantom issue” ("Climate of Doubt" n.p.).
Despite all those claims, the US government takes many actions to combat climate change. As it has already been mentioned, national carbon pollution standards have been established, as well as fuel economy standards. The American Business Act on Climate Pledge has been launched. Barack Obama’s government is also working on reducing methane emissions ("A Historic Commitment to Protecting the Environment and Reversing Climate Change" n.p.). Since America understands that climate change is the biggest world’s issue, the President’s Climate Action Plan consists of three pillars, one of which is leading international efforts to combat climate change (The President’S Climate Action Plan 5).
