US Military History
Even though the United States remained neutral for the most part of the First World War, it played an influential role at the end. The American forces helped turn around the war in favor of the Allied forces at a time they were losing. The American Military’s efforts included multiple military campaigns and operations, which were carried out on various battle fronts. The army was also responsible for clever strategies and logistics, which changed the war’s outcome. The leadership provided by the well trained American Military generals was also influential in winning the war.
The American Military held operations and campaigns in all battle fronts, mainly in France where the German forces were launching the spring offensive. Campaigns were held in Somme, Lys, Aisne, Mont Didier, Ypres-Lys, Champagne-Marne, Meuse, St. Mihiel and Vittorio Veneto. These areas were all over Europe; in Italy, France, Germany and Britain. During the operations, the US military launched sea and land attacks in ruthless fashion.
In conjunction with the Allied forces, the US Military used a direct and combative strategy of attacking using tanks in their first battle at Hamel. The use of tanks to make the Germans retreat from entering Paris formed the foundation of all other attacks. The American forces also used their numerical strength to defeat the Germans. For instance, during the battle of Meuse and St. Mihiel, they outnumbered the Germans hence; recovered over 488km squared of French territory.
Under the guidance of experienced generals like John Pershing, the US forces used highly technical logistics to win the war. They mainly attacked the areas the Germans did not expect. The arrival of over 10000 men each day to fight in the war was also influential. The American forces also succeeded because they had superior resources such as warships. By 1918, both the Germans and Allied forces were weakened in terms of armament. However, the Americans had all these resources at their disposal.
Therefore, the entry of USA military in the world war was the reason the Allied forces won. The Americans had the superior resources to carry out operations and campaigns to suppress the German invasion of France. They used clever strategies and logistics, guided by experienced leaders, which led to the defeat of the Germans.
