How would you describe the type of work you perform?
Being one of the hospital staff, nursing profession is a type of work that involves lot knowledge when it comes to knowing how to provide a professional care to your patients. It involves extensive medical background so as to ensure that the adequate service will be provided to our patients, who serve as our customers. This extensive medical background and knowledge must be appropriately applied in our day-to-day tasks especially during intensive circumstances, which our professional assistance are highly needed. This type of work can be described as one of the most important works or tasks to fulfill the medical needs of the people, whether or not these people need a hospital confinement. It is highly regarded as one of the backbones of hospital operation.
What are some tasks you perform in a typical day that you really enjoy?
Some tasks that are really enjoying in a typical day at work are getting into the hospital thinking that I would be able to exercise my knowledge and capabilities not just a plain medical professional, but a person who is loaded with compassionate skills in helping my patients recover from their illness. Additionally, I enjoy being able to provide supplementary advice on how my patients will be able to do their home medication while knowing that they already surpassed the medical struggles that they have been. It is one of the most fulfilling moments of my day seeing them well-recovered.
How do you feel being involved in such Career?
I feel very important in terms of my career as I am part of every patient’s recovery. The fulfillment of being able to exercise my professionalism towards a person’s well-being makes me feel that this profession that I chose to be in is one of the greatest and important professions that a person can have.
Pre-School Teacher
How would you describe the type of work you perform?
A pre-school teacher can be described as a founder of knowledge. This type of work involves extensive patience as we are dealing with children who need to be taught with basic knowledge so they can be ready once they are about to be in a regular grade school class. Many people can be involved in many professions, but being a pre-school teacher can be an exceptional job as it may require the thinking of a parent. We have to treat these children as our own sons and daughters so they can feel that the presence of a parent who is willing to mold them to be a better person in the future.
What are some tasks you perform in a typical day that you really enjoy?
Some tasks that really enjoy me a teacher are playing with these little ones because I love children. Playing with them makes me feel like I am not doing some work, but just being one of them while they are learning. The enjoyment of being able to be part of their childhood is very rewarding in a sense that I get to put smiles on their faces while they enjoy their childhood.
How do you feel being involved in such Career?
The feeling that I have is the feeling of happiness combined with satisfaction. I feel happy because this is the work that I love to do in the first place since I love being with children. I feel satisfied because there are times that I see some of these children grew up having good attitude and somehow I realized at some point that I became part of their childhood.
Restaurant Manager
How would you describe the type of work you perform?
Being a restaurant manager is a work that can be described as the man behind happy diners. Managing a restaurant is like being the leader of any company that operates to bring satisfaction to its customers. As a manager, I get to encounter different problems that involve food and customer related issues. This type of work requires strategies that may be needed to make critical decisions in addition to the techniques that must be applied to satisfy hard-to-please customers in times of difficult situations.
What are some tasks you perform in a typical day that you really enjoy?
In this type of work, there are a lot of tasks that may not be enjoyable for some people. However, as a leader, I must find ways and look at my tasks as enjoyable as possible. Some tasks that I now managed to be enjoyable are being able to provide motivational skills over my subordinates especially when I see them doing a great job. Also, I enjoy handling the overall operation of the restaurant while I see a smooth flow from the time we open until we close and call it “a day”.
How do you feel being involved in such Career?
Being involved in this career makes me feel of security in terms of job and financial security. I feel that being in a food industry will provide stable income for me and my family and it will continuously provide foods on our table. Food is a necessity and I have no doubt that this career is one of the most stable careers that we can have.
Reaction
The interview questions made it clearer to me that these three people involved with the interview were not just doing their tasks and work because they need to. Their answers showed that in a daily basis, their work may give them satisfaction just the same as it may give them hard time at some point. However, their answers also revealed that they have something in their minds that drive them to achieve what their careers require.
After that series of interviews, new ideas were generated and I found out that the work satisfaction can be depending on a person’s perceptions towards a chosen career. I realized that choosing a career path is not because it is an ideal, but because it is what we are willing to be in. Our personal characteristics can be a foundation of a successful career, hence, can be used as a tool to achieve our goals.
Work and career can be two different things. Work can just be a plain tasks that need to be done in due time. It can also be a task that your job requires to finish. On the other hand, career is a job that has a continuous and stable growth. It is a job that satisfies not only the company itself, but the employee himself. It provides more than just a financial growth of an employee as it also provides knowledge growth that can be used in the future. Career can be a combination of satisfaction, job security, financial security and even knowledge development.
