Troy’s attitude is defensive and selfish. He disapproves of his wife Rose playing the lottery while his wife is only trying to get something to occupy her she there is nothing interesting with Troy. Troy also denies his son an opportunity to play football and insists that he (Cory) should keep his job at the supermarket. He considers his restriction of Cory to play football as a way protecting Cory from the misfortune that befell him when he was denied to play in the major league. He also disregards Lyon’s talent in music and considers it just a waste of time yet he played no part in bring up Lyon. Is Troy justified in his actions? Does at any one moment give a justified reason for his selfish behavior and can it really be considered as selfish as such?
