Roman Mythology
Greek mythology was created long before the Roman Mythology. This is estimated to be around 2000 BC. While it was not until lately that people started to believe that Roman mythology was created more in the 12th century. I disagree with De Luce, who writes that roman stories tend to come from sources that are much later than those of the Greeks. This is because Roman mythology consists of not one, but two types of creation facts which cannot be challenged. The first says that, there is a legend that when the war was over Aeneas; a famous soldier in the Greek army defeated the Asian army. He then made a decision to leave for Carthage. When he arrived, he wooed and fell love with the Queen, but he left her and travelled to Italy, where he founded Rome. From his background, Aeneas knowing the gods from his birthplace, made a decision to create new gods using new mythology in Rome. (pg202)
The other argument consists of two men who came from the Greek lineage Remus and Romulus. They were sons of Mars and a woman named Silvia a vestal virgin. Here the author is wrong again with events that took place by stating that the brothers argued when they had restored Numitor to the throne, but rather that, in the conflict that ensued between them and their uncle over the kingship of their father Mars, Remus died. Romulus then escaped to a new city by the name Rome. Coincidentally, that is when Romulus built Rome in 753 BC. (pg203)
In this case, the stories of Lucretia and Io are both similar in that they both talk about the theme of abuse of power and rape, same script different cast. In my personal opinion, both mythologies relate to each other, but have a difference in the date of creation. However, for both we do not know how and where they were created, in that, both have multiple stories that describe their birth. (pg 204-205)
