Countervailing power refers to balancing the market power of a certain group by using the market power of another group. For instance, the market power of a retailer can be balanced by the market power of its supplier, who is the manufacturer. Countervailing plays a major role in the power relationship. It either portrays unison of division. If two leaders work together, then the subjects can see progress. However, poor relationship between them will resulted to dwindled progress. A good example can be identified in a school or work set up. One needs the other in order for change to be executed or progress to be identified. The head teacher of an institution needs the students in order for him or her to lead. Without them, there is no school to run.
Social networking increases an individual’s power by virtue of the fact that one needs subjects in order for him or her to lead. Having a connection with other members of the society will gunner support for a leader. For one to ensure that there is a success in his or her career, he or she should employ some social networking strategies (Wang).
Some of these strategies include effective communication with the society. Effective communication ensures that one is able to represent himself to the society. This implies that, one should sell himself to the society. Selling oneself to the society ensures that one is well known hence in case career opportunities arise, grasping them will not be a problem.
Learning how to interact with the society is yet another strategy that one should learn. A good interaction with the society acts as self-marketing. Who would not wish to employ an individual that is well mannered? Definitely every employee wishes to employ a well-mannered person.
