Television commercials give a wider image on the exposure of children and adults in societies to the world. Advertisements and highlights in commercial television nature young people’s behaviors and norms. These publications include the taking of alcohol that affects the youths in societies. Sexual content, violence, and diets with calories are some of the effects of television commercials, especially for children and teenagers in societies. These effects of television affect children and teenagers privately or socially.
Over 750 million people always have access to videos in the world today. In most cases, it is acceptable for children to have TVs in their rooms where they can watch programs of their choice. These programs have promoted sexual content to the young adults because 80% of the media advertises on sexual orientations through the programs, but only 15% of the need for sexually transmitted diseases (Reichert 263). Television commercials that campaigns and supports on the need for birth control measures through using contraceptives are hardly seen on TVs. This sexual orientation affects the society through the immoral behavior the youth acquires from the commercial televisions.
Consequently, social action on the effect of television and commercial references especially aggressiveness leads to violence. Youth’s conducts are renowned due to their frequent connections that feature gun materials (Frosch, Krueger, Hornik, Cronholm, and Barg 11). Television references result in violence on the young people since the aggressiveness on how to control and solve their problems is by imitating what happens in the commercial network by immorally getting a solution on using guns and dangerous tools such as knives to solve their problems. This immoral behavior from TVs leads to violence in societies through using critical tools to solve problems instead of a peaceful talk.
Food advertisements on commercial televisions also have an effect on children that affects their private life. An advertisement on sugary foods and snacks is always at the top of the list in every program (Harrison and Marske 1571). This sentimental food affects the children’s health because it leads overweight due to the intake of excessive calories. In conclusion, television commercial sets back the society through violence, sexual content, and eating foods with calories.
