My choice of interior design as a career was informed by many reasons that build up along my life since childhood. The reasons have economic, social, and emotional foundations. First and foremost, I always derived a lot of fascination from the sight of well-finished houses since my childhood. My mind could easily grasp and retain the details of any building or hotel that my family visited during the holiday. I could often borrow my father's camera to take photos of various internal features whenever we visited new places, a fact that always amused my parents and siblings. The beauty and diversity of internal finishes in different places and cultures ignited my childhood dream into the field of interior design as early as tenth grade.
Other than the childhood dream to embrace the profession, curiosity led me to discover that the artistic precision of interior design would form a rewarding career. The design of any dream home or commercial premises for others would serve as my source of income for my living. The estimated cost of hiring an interior designer can vary from $500 to $15,000 for low cost and high-cost clients respectively, a fact that makes it a well-paying profession like any other career. Justified by my desire to take up a dynamic career in life, my choice to study interior design was also informed by the fact that it's a dynamic career that has enormous entrepreneurial potential. Being an interior design does not compel one to be formally employed but gives me the freedom and opportunity to practice under my stewardship and initiative; being self-employed. (Gleel) Interior design is a flexible practice that greatly depends on art and fashion and therefore not fixed to any specific outlay or formats like other practical procedures as those applied in medical surgeries. As an internal designer, I will operate at freedom to use my creativity and new approaches to executing my assignments. This will serve best to sell my services due to the continuous innovations. The profession also serves best to kill the boredom and monotony associated with office work. Interior design involves active work which allows a practitioner to work both inside and outside the office. These ever-changing work environments also give an individual the opportunity to interact with multiple classes of people such as engineers, customers, architects and legal authorities, an opportunity for social growth. The profession is also a sufficient challenge in that every project is usually characterized by unique difficulties which must always be addressed to execute the project. (Gleel)
I have a great passion for getting things done as and at when they are supposed to be done. This does not, however, imply perfectionism, but it gives me the drive to deliver in all my assignments. To get things done in a proper way, my passion can best be addressed by proper prior planning, brilliant execution, and consistent precision at the point of action. This approach will ensure that I make my passion a reality.
After studying interior design, I would like to teach commercial and residential interior designs. My choice is informed by the wide arrays of design in those two avenues. It will allow me to exercise my innovativeness and passion to the maximum.
Long term goals
