Discuss the Influences of His Age, Gender, And?
Age is an important factor in influencing the manner in which hypertension is treated. In the general population, pharmacologic treatment should be initiated for adults aged sixty years and older when their systolic blood pressure level is ≥150 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure level is found to be ≥90 mm Hg (James et al., 2014). The goal of the pharmacologic treatment should be to attain SBP <150 mm Hg and goal DBP <90 mm Hg.
Ethnicity on Hypertensive Medications. ?
Considering that the patient in the case study is a Black, two hypertensive medications should be used in managing hypertension in the patient in the case study because the patient records a hypertension level that is 15/10 greater than the normal hypertension level (Flack et al., 2010). Besides, since the patient is suffering from diabetes mellitus, setting the BP target at <130/80 mm Hg (Flack et al., 2010).
On The Basis Of an Analysis of Those Factors, Provide One Option for Improvement of His Blood Pressure and Provide A Clear and Specific Justification for That Choice.
The blood pressure exhibited by the patient in the case study has persisted despite the patient having taken medications for the last twelve years. This condition is coupled with the fact that the patient has been suffering from diabetes mellitus over the same period. Considering that the patient is Black and aged sixty years, the treatment should involve two different medications. Besides, lifestyle modifications are recommended to the patient.
