Abstract
Online and traditional classes are similar in the sense that they offer equal certifications in terms of bachelor degrees, masters, and Ph.D. programs. They extend equal knowledge to students since they use similar books as required by the course. The two classes are acceptable by employers. However, the two classes are different in terms of flexibility and convenience as online classes are more preferable on this element than the traditional classes. A further difference is created on marketability and job focus. The online classes keep up with time while changes in the traditional classes change with the dictation of the stakeholders.
The small and large universities are similar in the fact that they both offer equal education. The institutions are different in various ways. They do not have equal facilities as large institutions have more facilities than small ones. The large institutions have larger research centers than small institutions. Also, the large universities have more courses than the small universities. Also, the large universities have more extracurricular activities than small universities.
The education status has continued to change over time. Initially, the traditional education was the main form of education, but the situation has changed with the introduction of online education. Each of the forms of education has some uniqueness, which makes it relevant at the current times. Although the online education has come to solve some flaws of the traditional education, it may not be the best alternative. There are some differences as well as similarities between the two forms of education.
The two forms of education are similar in offering equal knowledge. Under the traditional form of education, the student has physical contact with the teacher who offers the lessons. On the other hand, the online education offers an online platform for the interaction between the teacher and the students. Therefore, through an online connection, the student can access an equal taste of education as students in the traditional form of education (Rauch 01).
Also, the two forms of education have become acceptable to employers. The two forms of education are valued equally. The employers have come to accept equality between the two forms of education since the students can easily access the necessary training. The employers do not find the students of the traditional education system more special than the online students (Rauch 01). They are believed to have equal competence.
However, there are some differences between the two forms of education. The first difference is in flexibility and convenience. The online education is very significant for working students since they can easily interchange their programs from school to work. Online classes can be attended even late at night. On the other hand, the traditional education system operates within fixed hours. The students are only allowed to attend classes during fixed hours thus, they cannot create time to attend to other activities (Rauch 01).
The other difference is based on the marketable skills and job focus. Online education focuses more on teaching hard and unique skills that will get one a job. For example, boot camps are designed to prepare the student for programming as well as design jobs. The student is taught critical thinking and analysis skills which are mainly required at work. On the other hand, traditional education focuses on general education, which does not have a direct impact on the personal development of the student (Cheng and Herbert 693). As such, it may become less favorable as the online education.
Further, online education keeps up with the times. The education system changes faster than the traditional education. Online education is exposed to new improvements that occur online, and the students can embrace the changes easily and are willing to walk by the changes. The traditional education takes the time to change since various consultations need to be made between various stakeholders in the education sector (Rauch 01).
Small vs. large universities
The equality between the two types of universities is education. The two offer equal qualifications in terms of certification. There are chances of students from the two types of universities to have equal qualifications in terms of certificates. They usually have equally qualified tutors making them competent in the delivery of content in their classes (Cheng and Herbert 694). Therefore, the small and large institutions are equal in the delivery of higher education training.
One of the differences that exist between small and large universities is based on facilities. The large universities have more facilities than the small universities. The large universities have wider areas for expansion than the small universities. Therefore, they are more accommodating to expansion and holding of facilities that would be highly useful for learning in the institutions. Small universities may be limited in the possession of facilities since they do not have adequate room for expansion (Moore 01).
The second difference is based on research. The large universities have exposure to more experienced and passionate researchers. The research centers may attract highly influential people in various fields who may have extensive knowledge in the specific field. As such, the students may interact with most influential individuals in certain fields by participating in the research processes with the individuals. Students in small universities may not have equal opportunities since they do not have excellent research centers like the large universities (Cheng and Herbert 702).
The third difference is based on the number of courses. The size of the university is a major determinant of the courses that an institution is likely to offer. Large universities have opportunities for more courses since they accommodate more classes. The small universities may not host more classes since they are small in size (Moore 02). Therefore, they may not have adequate courses, which may suit different students who may be interested in the institution.
The fourth difference is in extracurricular activities. The larger the university, the more types of activities exists in the university. The obscure activities are offered in large universities while the small universities host the common activities. However, the large universities have a demerit since the talented individuals on the extracurricular activities are hardly noticed since the competition is high. In small universities talented individuals are hard to notice since the competition is not spread to many activities (Cheng and Herbert 694).
