In her documentary, 9/11 Mysteries: Demolitions, Sofia Shafquat argues against the myth that the temperature of the fire and the impact of the planes are what caused the collapse of the buildings. Shafquat mentions that the maximum temperature of an open-air, uncontrolled hydrocarbon fire is 1200° F as it was seen at the 9/11 fires, and that the jet-grade kerosene as it is an example of it should have shown the same kind of temperature. She argues and uses as an example the kerosene heater which runs on the same jet-grade kerosene, in that it does not cause any of the steel it is made of to weaken or melt. She mentions that the temperature at which steel melts being 2750° F and above, the chances of steel melting as stated and made popular by the media is not possible. She then makes it a point to question the presence of melted steel at the collapse site. She states the likeness of the collapse to that of other demolitions which uses explosives. The melted steel being an evidence of the usage of explosives, she mentions a powerful explosive called thermite whose maximum temperature being 4500° F could have easily melted the metal structure. The presence of sulfur also suggests that thermate, being a mixture of the two might have been used. She argues against the statement that the temperature of the fire weakened the structure causing it to collapse. She mentions various evidences such as bent metal and debris scattered laterally which promotes her argument that explosives were presently used to demolish the building rather than it freely collapsing on its own after the fire.
