Empathy is also one of the descriptions of reciprocity from a different angle, when a person does not want to harm the other, as he does not want to be harmed too. However, when one is done a favor, he owes a favor back, even if the favor is a gift. This feeling of owing someone is used among mafia, criminals, charity workers etc. So nothing is free, as it seems, everything is done for a reason. Mothers can be excluded from that list, because they give sincerely, waiting nothing in return, they can even risk their lives and spare themselves for the sake of their children. As humans, animal mothers can sacrifice their lives too. Hens, for instance, risk their lives to save their chickens from a dog getting even into the mouth of the attacker.
One can witness reciprocity, when people exchange with gossips. When the person is gossiped, he tries to find a way to gossip back on him.
No matter how the person leads his life, he needs to know how to communicate and deal with different situations that occur on his path, as he is a social animal. That is why written or not written rules and laws are to regulate people’s actions within the society, such as eye to eye, tooth to tooth etc. Although those rules and laws are not always sufficient for the person, they may act unjust, as well.
