Values of Life
Our values are important in our daily life and work. It is our believe that these values help in day to day activities. If the values in our life match our behavior in daily life then we are content and satisfied with our life. Economic value measures the benefit that is provided by a good or service to any person or an economic agent.
Defining one's personal values is a tough proposition as we are confused about what we want and what we do. Our personal values helps us to identify what is good for us, the values that are beneficial , desirable and constructive. Through proper values we develop behavior and solve our common problems by comparing the rankings of each value which provides us the answer to the question that which help to decide what we want to do and in what order we want to choose them to do.
The objectively measurable factors that are very important to me are life expectancy, literacy rate, gender equality, income, standard of living, food, cell phone usage, internet, savings, job.
Let us first start with life expectancy. It a measurement used by the statisticians about how long any living being can live. In case of humans life expectancy measures our average life that we can live based on the year of birth. Life expectancy increase if people are less affected by diseases and there are proper medication to reduce the illness that reduces life expectancy. It also increase if in a society people are more fit and health conscious. So this adds an important role in my live. For example life expectancy is more in wealthy nations than the poor nations. Again stress from job, family and environment are the reasons to reduce life expectancy. If life expectancy is high with good health then that adds a vital value in our life and makes us happy.
Literacy rate
This rate measures the education or literacy level in a particular country or society. It is the ability to read and write. If education is not there is any society then the country as a whole is bound to face a lot of difficulties the value of being literate is high when helps us learn how and when to talk, provides us sufficient knowledge to face the world. if we are illiterate the society is not economically developed. In order to business and adopt the new technology a country should be literate and if the society is literate then we are also educated. The provides economic development and counties that are economically developed are having high literacy rate
Gender Equality
In a society that becomes developed when there is equality among both male and female. Equality in terms of education, workplace, marriage etc. An underdeveloped country will always have the inequality among the two genders. They will always try to impose restrictions on women who are also an important part in uplifting the society. Providing equality among men and women provides the awareness of each other strengths, contribution and capability in a society. The society where there is no such imposition on any gender that is bound to provide better productivity. The literacy arte also add value to my life as I am part of the society which will improve and expand by considering equality in gender.
Income
It forms a basis of our livelihood. If there is no income there is no food ,no shelter , no clothes to wear. Income is a important factor to live and survive. We are in an era of competition along with scarcity of natural resources. The scarcity is reduced by new technologies used in production of our daily needs. The companies who produces need income to continue with more new type of technology and for tat we need to pay them. To pay someone we need to have sufficient income to meet our daily needs. Natural resources do not come free . For example to purchase a house on a land which is a natural resource we have t pay a hefty amount to live and stay in that house. So whatever we do , we eat, visit somewhere we need money which comes from the income we are having. This contributes to our status, our entertainment apart from basic necessities of life. So we need income to live and it adds a great value in our lives.
Standard of living
The development of a country along with proper education, better incomes increases the standard of living of a country. A society where everyone is working in a good position, drawing a good salary the standard of living of the residents of the society increase. Standard of living increase when a country is having no poor people and everyone is working and contribution to the development of the country. The government is also utilizing the taxes with basic amenities for a hassle free live for the people of the country. Clean roads, big houses, more than two cars, less population, makes the standard of living high of a country. So, it shows the quality of life we are leading. This is an important economic indicator.
Food
Another important economic factor is food which provides us the energy to live. It is a basic necessity of our life to survive. It is nutrient required in our body. without food we will die. But there are various quality of food that determines whether a country is economically developed or underdeveloped. The good quality food improves our life expectancy and helps in proper growth. There are underdeveloped countries where the quality of food is low and scarce. The scarcity of food creates corruption in the system. People fight over food due to hunger. Food scarcity is a major problem in many underdeveloped or developing countries. Increase in population also creates the problem of food scarcity. So, food adds important value to my life.
Job
Family
The life we lead whether high or low, the salary we draw are shared within the family. The family is that part of our life that supports us in times of crisis. Without a family we cannot exist as it is our human nature to create a family.
Internet
This has become a daily part in our life. From delivering something on the go in a job to social connected we need internet. In order to have a proper job we need to be connected by internet .Also with family when we are far away we need internet. This technology has changed our lives and we are becoming more dependent day by day.
Cell phone usage.
Cell phone connects us to numerous people. Today we cannot think of somebody not using cell phone. It helps us to receive e-mails, getting deliveries , calling cabs. So it is more than a phone and from luxury has become a necessity due to the ability to help in numerous activity in daily lives. Wherever we are we can reached through cell phone and the usage is more in comparison to any other device.
Among all the ten factors the most important factor is the life expectancy .
If we do not live then how can we use the other factors in our life. So the first rank holder is life expectancy as without being fit one cannot live a long life
The second rank is the food . This is very important factor just after the life expectancy because as we live we need to eat and that is provided by food.
The third rank is job .If we do not have job we cannot have food which is the basis of survival. One or two days we can get free food but after that we have to find job to sustain life. Along with job literacy is equally important. Without being literate on cannot have job. Though there are some jobs that do not need education but in order to get more options and availability of jobs one need s to be literate.
The fourth rank is the family we live in. In order to face the world and the problems that come our way we need our family to support us.
The fifth rank is income. If income is higher necessity and luxury both are easy available . Along with income standard of living is in the same rank. To have high standard of living there are lot of factors and among them the primary factor is income. So higher income means higher standard of living.
The sixth rank is gender equality. If there us equality of gender then the working population is higher which contributes to the development of the society as well as the country. Equality of both male and female in a family implies that the education level is high along with the income.
The seventh rank is the internet and cell phone usage as they both add a lot of value in connectivity and are becoming a necessity. But these are technological advances from which we are drawing the benefits to make life easier provided we have the rest of the factors.
