Modern technology is one of the fastest growing economic rates in the country and workers at health sector need to be trained for them to be well equipped with the knowledge and skills for its operation. The changes, for example, were formed to reduce the number of hand-written reports that gave false information about the illness of some patients and ensured that the staffs update all medical information data in an accurate way for easy reference by any patient caregiver or the doctors. The administration at health facilities is required to ensure that the technology used to offer services for staffs and patients in all departments are updated for security and safety performance.
New improved technology equipment used in healthcare has helped workers in the health sector to conduct their research and advance themselves with modern, innovative methods used in treating patients and recording their medical information. It is aimed at making people remain healthy and have a better quality of life. The management provides specific knowledge and skills that these physicians will use in the field for servicing their patients at any given organization. Examples of these new emerging technologies are computers, 3-D printing machines, robotics, biometrics, patient portals, mobile health clinics, genomics and genetics and cognitive computing.
As a start, the use of computers for care coordination was developed for keeping the health records of patients and designing the relevant drugs to be administered to the patient. The data kept can be utilized for monitoring the patient’s health progress and future reference if they have an improvement and ailing confidentiality in patient’s health history record. For example, doctors use computers to record daily progress notes in the medical department and ordering of medication to patients. Computers have improved levels of quality services, safety records, and efficiency in handling in-patient and out-patient records through cash accounting, billing and using automated dispensing tool for giving medication doses (Herrick et al. 2010).
Secondly, is the 3-D printing machine that uses a bio-ink comprising of mixtures of living cells for building layers used for formation of human tissue and organs such as kidneys, blood vessels and muscle patches that can be implanted in the human body if the natural organ is found to be destroyed. The technology entails the creation of tissue replacement which is printed one layer after the others in a 3D structure using a person’s genetic matter. It has made it useful in having an implant more possible (Dunham 2015).
Use of robotics a tiny machine employed in the treatment and control of diseases in an individual’s body is a third innovation in which it identifies and repairs bloodstream tissues to prevent the occurrence of diseases such as cancer among others. Robots are used in the simulation of feelings and emotions by using a tiny camera mounted on the glass that will be able to signals in a person’s body through body impulses (Huston 2013).Application of robots has helped doctors in monitoring the behavior of patients carefully through the use of a device called wearable for optimal performance and information access.
Also, biometrics was also formed to improve the confidentiality of patients’ healthcare data information. Use of signatures and different fingerprint biometrics for every patient makes it easy to offer security password for medical records of all the patients. The fifth technology is the use of portals that are of two different types of information delivery in the organization. One is the provider portal that makes the caretakers give information access and refer patients to any medical staff at the required time. A second portal is the patient portal that enables the person supporting the patient to have access to patients’ medical records and mode of treatment. In having the knowledge to study the records he or she will be able to request for a prescribed different medication for the patient if the conditions deteriorate further instead of showing a positive response. Portals have also enabled their caretaker's schedule earlier appointments for transfers and have access to the lab results through the electronic framework (Emont 2011).
Another improvement was the mobile health that is used in delivering health services to clients at different locations within the society. It is achieved through the use of cell phones to exchange data information and communicate to customers in remote areas concerning their medical programs such as the use of smartphones and I Triage. The plans are formulated to offer education to both parents and children to maintain good hygiene and encourage self-care behavior (Washington 2012). The mobile health has created greater influence to nurses in making decisions on a patient’s records and medication after a period of treatment.
Genomics and genetics are the seventh technology used in determining a gene mutation status of a person if she has a carrier that can be passed on to a newborn child. The transformation helps the health workers to check and diagnose some of the inherited cell conditions such as sickle cell diseases at an early stage through screening. Its gives the benefit in the treatment of the illness that is likely to develop in the body cells through giving preventive drugs (Ilesanmi 2013). The development of ICU facilities use in patients with critical conditions such as cardiac arrest
Physicians require the use of wearable technology to monitor the progress of the patients who needed a special treatment by responding faster to the situation using a computerized machine. Only staffs with skills and knowledge of dealing with the resource intensive section are allowed to take care and treat the patients through a cooler data saving their lives (Combes and Elisa 2013). Conversely, cognitive computing and natural language processing are software that they use in identifying and getting written or spoken information by the patients caregivers to have a quality outcome in services provided especially to those clients with a brain tumor.
The major issues in the adoption of these new technologies emerged. It included one, the current environmental changes which made more vaccinations to be done to the people to prevent viral diseases that might occur and cause harm to the human body. Thus, increasing the number of mentally ill individuals who were left to survive under poor conditions; making them experience stigmatization. The growing number of complaints from clients lost files that had their health data records gave rise to the development of electronic medical records whereby all patients records could be kept for future reference through a single structured platform accessible to the patients when needed.
Thirdly, the number of patients suffering from chronic health diseases was on the rise and unable to travel out of the country that made them lives under poor hygiene methods for survival. With the small conditions, medical administrators offered a screening machine that could be used in determining the ailing situation of the local patients and medication given to them to ease the burden for their caregivers. Patients with heart attacks in most cases could succumb to death due to fewer staffs and tools at the ICU level in the hospitals (Aslakson et al. 2014).
With the emergence of technology, the government in collaboration with health workers was forced to purchase enough new equipment that was to be used at the department to save the lives of the individuals in the special care unit. Finally, the development of healthcare sector has improved in the determination of group blood carriers making it efficient for them to give treatment for the patients that might acquire diseases such as anemia through a blood transfer from a parent to the child.
In conclusion, the application of current advanced technology in health sectors has led to the rapid technological growth making patients have easy access to the services they require such as free medical screening. Health practitioners must always be alert to be at the forefront in adjusting with the changes of technology advancement in planning for their duties at work. The improved medical service techniques by use of medical devices have also allowed patients consult with their physicians on the health history data and the changes to make for a healthy well-being.
