Context: The US is the focal point of the entire world. Even amid receiving various criticisms from different corners of the earth for its foreign policies, stand on fighting global terrorism and various other factors, US is one of the most appealing nations for individuals to live and work. The US is currently considered one of the best destinations for getting quality higher education.
Importance of main idea: In light of youngsters from various parts of the world coming to the US to pursue higher education, they need to have an overview of the US education system. Analyzing the pros and cons of the system from an international perspective helps individuals to take right decisions
Thesis statement: Education system in the US is the best to develop one’s academic interests as it provides equal opportunities for aspirants from all over the world by fostering diversity through its flexible system of high quality education to ensure personal and professional development.
Body
Changing from general to definite information: The US is the land of opportunities that attracts individuals belonging to diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The immigrant friendly nature of US attracts ambitious youngsters belonging to various cultures with a drive to create their destiny through higher education.
Focusing direction (telling): The US is an extremely multicultural society that makes all nationals to feel at home. To cater to the educational needs of the diverse population US has the world’s best business schools and universities in the world. The diversity feature entwined with the US education system creates an enriching social environment that alleviates stereotypes and prejudices associated with racial and cultural backgrounds to improve learning experience (Karkouti, 2016).
Becoming more specific (showing): Apart from providing quality education, US schools also provide financial aids to deserving students. Besides, the US universities provide flexibility to students by offering the choice of experimenting with different subjects in the first two years, unlike premier institutions in Europe and the rest of the world. More importantly, the federal and local governments ensure the understanding of the general public about the assessment systems to introduce reforms from time to time (Brookhart, 2013). Academic life in US schools promotes interactions and open discussions that inculcates tolerance in the students.
Supporting details: The US currently has 63 universities within the top 200 universities in the world (Bothwell, 2015). Plenty of opportunities available in the country hold back individuals from a mad rush to grab opportunities.
Rebuttal section
Argument of opponent: The market oriented approach of higher education in the recent times in the US has discouraged the government from sponsoring public higher education that often invokes the criticism of educators and the common public (Fowles, 2014). Various states following their own distinctive curriculum is blamed for creating varying levels of standards and employers favoring individuals educated from certain universities. Another common fear about studying in the US is the higher tuition fees and living costs; however, plenty of employment opportunities available for students offset this disadvantage to a considerable extent.
My position: US education system is the best as it is universal and flexible to accommodate individuals regardless of their origin or background.
My refutation: In spite of the disadvantages related to the US education system, I believe US education system is the best in the world today.
Conclusion
Restating topic and importance: In the context of globalization motivating individuals to go for the best, the United States is the best place providing world class education that gives them good career options.
Restating thesis: US education system is currently the best one on earth to develop one’s academic and professional interests because it provides equal opportunities to everyone through its flexible nature and quality education.
