It is important to establish critical success factors, especially in attempts to becoming a global leader. Leadership, in its entirety, demands that an individual possesses the desired traits and attributes that would make him or her a visionary, an ethical, wise, proactive and articulate leader, so as to be trusted with the leadership roles in the first place. As such, it is of much essence to establish and focus on the critical success factors going forward.
Additionally, a leader, or a prospective global leader, who intends to shape the decisions of the world’s organizations globally, has to appreciate and practice the valuable leadership development cycle. As such, access to information, interpretation of the information, planning a course of action, applying the blended learning, application, leadership and sustainability, are components of the cycle that should be followed by a leader (Avolio, 2010).
As emerging and developing leaders, it is essential to appreciate yourself, the small, little stories about yourself and your development. It makes for a good start to learn and understand lessons learned or passed down to an individual by the society as they shape the thinking and belief of the person. For instance, my story about how my dad shaped my thinking and approach to life and criticism. This aspect provides a spring- board from which one can re- launch him or herself.
Another vital aspect of leadership is knowledge management within an organization set up. The learning process in an organization involves three facets: conceive, act and reflect. Consequently, leaders must steer their teams to be in a position to formulate ideas, act on them and reflect on the outcome and the process, thereby learning valuable lessons from each event
It is no secret that businesses and organizations of today require leaders who are ready and well equipped to take the team to new frontiers in the global arena. As such, leaders who possess the necessary attributes to steer organizations through the turbulence of the outside world are becoming valuable assets to companies world over. A leader who is able and willing to understand and appreciate the varied opinions and cultures of the world’s populous and at the same time maintaining high levels of ethics and respect, upholding the company’s values and, eventually ensuring profitability and expansion. Such leaders must be strategic thinkers who are visionary and accommodative (Gold, Thorpe, & Mumford, 2010)
A bigger aspect of the learning experience closely relates to the existing literature. For instance, the importance of training and development is an issue that should not be underscored. Moreover, it is evidenced that inculcating great leadership skills in a continuous learning process, and as such, learning becomes a vicious cycle. The team work and team spirit is another significant aspect of the live/ workshop learning that makes a lot of sense in the real world
