Learning Style
The two learning style tests that I took were Whatismylearningstyle and The VARK Questionnaire. Under the Whatismylearningstyle Test 1, the learning styles are categorized under auditory, visual, tactile, global, analytic, or kinaesthetic styles. These learning styles divide the way different people learn and depend on certain sense, such as auditory or visual over others. On the other hand The VARK Questionnaire divides the learning styles into different strategies that are implemented by different people for learning. Some of the strategies that are listed under VARK are visual, read/write, aural, kinesthetic, and multimodal.
After taking the Whatismylearningstyle learning test the results revealed that my learning style is visual. The website stated that being a visual learner meant that I usually remember what I write or read; enjoy visual presentations and projects; can recall charts, maps, and diagrams effectively; and understand information by seeing it. I must say that I more or less agree with this interpretation of my learning style and can agree with the learning and teaching strategies mentioned that are suitable for my learning style.
My VARK Questionnaire scores were Visual 3, Aural 9, Read/Write 1, and Kinesthetic 3. The results of the VARK Questionnaire revealed that my learning style version was aural. This aural preference means that I prefer to learn information which is heard or spoken to me. Also, it also determines that questioning is an important aspect of my learning strategy. In my opinion, the VARK Test gives a better analysis of my learning style and I can easily relate with the interpretations presented of my learning style. I also agree with the suggestions given to improve my learning abilities and boost learning experience.
Personality Test/ Humanmetrics Test
The results of the Humanmetrics test provided the following results: Extravert over Introversion (16%), Sensing over intuition (12%), Feeling over thinking (9%), and Judging over perceiving (9%).
Compare and Contrast
The learning style tests revealed that my learning style is either visual or aural. The personality test revealed that I am an extravert, sense user, trust my feeling, and trust my judgement. My visual-aural learning style is related to my personality as prefer to sense and feel things to understand them better. The extravert nature can also be related to my learning style as I prefer to see and listen to others and develop opinions. Although, the results of the Humanmetrics study revealed that I prefer to judge things over develop perception, I find it tough to agree with as I rely a lot of perceiving things around me. Overall, there are clear similarities between my learning styles and personality profile as the way I learn has an influence on my personality and the way I understand the world around me.
Higher Education Experience
In terms of my visual-aural learning style, I can say that it helps me in my classroom experiences as the majority of the classroom activities are either visual or aural. Teachers prefer to speak in the classroom and present information through slides and it really suits my learning style. My personality traits of extrovert, sense user, trust my feeling, and trust my judgements are also useful in my classroom learning experiences. Being extravert it helps me to communicate with others in the classroom and develop my own judgement over information.
