My scores in the test summed up to 63 which means that I am considered a Type A person. After reading an interpretation of my score I can agree with most of it and admit that it describes me more or less accurately. First of all, I am typically rather energetic; I am always ready to strongly defend my point of view and have a strong sense of responsibility. Normally I am active and always ready to work intensively. At the same time I often have the feeling that I am running out of time, thus I am constantly trying to speed up everything that I am doing. Many people probably think that I am hasty, reckless, and impatient. The last one is extremely true about me – it always makes me very nervous when I have to wait in a line.
I am constantly engaged in a high pace of life because I think this will help me to achieve my goals. Besides, I start to get bored when I am engaged in only one thing for a considerable time; thus I am typically involved in several various activities simultaneously, which gives me a possibility to rapidly switch between different activities. In addition to the abovementioned, I am rather ambitious; I want to succeed and have a desire for recognition and advancement. I am constantly striving to competition. Competition does not scare me; on the contrary – I like to accept the challenge and to prove that I can achieve difficult goals.
I like everything to be done quickly; for that reason I can sometimes be irritable and impatient, Some people might even consider me aggressive because when it takes them too long to get to the point they want to make in the conversation, I can interrupt them when they are saying something, or even ends phrases (sometimes even entire stories) instead of them.
One more important thing about my personality is that I love independence. When I am under stress I prefer to work alone. This gives me an opportunity to establish deadlines for the completion of a specific work and to increase my workload. However, I understand that this method also has its disadvantages because when I increase my workload, it also increases my level of stress and at the same time limits my ability to receive help and support from other people (for example, colleagues or subordinates at work). This, in its turn, may cause irritation and feeling of dissatisfaction with my colleagues.
My level of Type A personality influences all three aspects (stressors, stress and strains), but at this paper I will focus only on one aspect, and namely the stress. Sometimes there occur such situations that I am busy with an important and urgent task, and suddenly someone gives me another task claiming that it is also very urgent and very important. The first reaction I have, when I receive such tasks that compete with one another, is anger and a feeling of extreme dissatisfaction. After that I try calm down and to understand what needs to be done and how much time is required for that. Taking into account my love of independence on the one hand, and my strong sense of responsibility on the other hand, I certainly do everything myself without trying some substitutes who could assist me with some parts of the task. In such cases I typically increase my workload and work longer and more intensively in order to have everything done on time, but while all the tasks are equally urgent I feel much pressure because I have to work on both of them simultaneously and at the same time have to be very careful in order not to make any mistakes. When working I am usually very irritated when someone interrupts me with some other minor questions that could easily be solved without involving me. The closer to the deadline, the more pressure I feel and the more I speed up the work. Usually at the final stages I can anticipate whether I will be able to finish on time and whether I have done a good job with the task; thus, although very stressed, at the final stages I already have a good feeling that I achieved my goal and accomplished everything that I was expected to do.
