Introduction
The United States’ health system is facing different challenges that show the need for reforms to the health sector to promote better health for the American population. Attention is focused on the Americans who are not insured and the ones facing increase in costs of the health premiums. To promote health care of the American population, the government should invest funds to help in reducing the number of people missing insurance coverage (Baciu & Sharfstein, 2016). The efficiency and quality of health care should be enhanced to reduce the poor health outcomes as well as reduce the high cost of health care in the US. It is evident that most of the Americans do not get the health care they deserve in spite of the nation spending more money per individual than other developed nations in the health sector (Dean et al., 2015). Furthermore, the preventive care offered by government is not well utilized which often leads to high spending by the American population on the advanced cases of illness. Enhancing the utilization of the preventive care will reduce the high costs suffered by majority of Americans who fall ill.
The patients suffering from chronic diseases like heart diseases and hypertension do not receive efficient and credible treatments like drug therapies to help them in managing their conditions effectively (Woolf & Purnell, 2016). This case applies to the uninsured, underinsured, and insured Americans alike. The fragmentation of the health care system is worsened by the fact that the health care providers do not have the required tools to use in working and communicating effectively to help in improving the patient care (Dean et al., 2015). The government should reduce the cost of health insurance coverage to resolve the problem. Health care has been a serious problem in the American population for quite a long time. Most of the individuals do not get quality services as would be expected of a developed nation like America. Therefore, it is important for the policy makers to put some strategies for promoting American population health.
Many quality improvement techniques should be put in place to promote health for the American population. Some of the techniques include coordination of better care and promotion of the evidence-based treatment, which assist in improving the outcomes of healthcare of the citizens. However, the impact is usually limited to factors that are beyond the control of the clinicians. In addressing the issue of what can be done to improve health for the American population, it is important to take quality improvement initiatives for the entire health care system (Dean et al., 2015). One of the approaches that can be used to promote better health care is community-based initiatives. This approach brings community organizations, health care providers, clergy, business leaders, and educators together to improve accessibility to preventive and primary care, promote healthy behavior, and reducing the health disparities (Woolf & Purnell, 2016).
Significance of problem
This problem is important because it brings forth knowledge and the strategies that can be used to promote better health for the American population. Through the different ways of promoting the health of the citizens, the nation enhances a healthy workforce (Woolf & Purnell, 2016). Furthermore, the problem shows the significance of reforming the health care system to help in improving value of care. The issues of poor insurance coverage can be solved by the government issuing health insurance coverage to the less privileged Americans (Baciu & Sharfstein, 2016). The problem also helps in addressing the other less profiled issues affecting the American population. The reforms for this problem will also help in improving the access to right care in the correct setting and at the right time. These reforms support high access to improving health care in contrast to the system that is currently used. This problem encourages more treatments, procedures, and tests to be offered to the citizens at affordable rates through collaboration by key stakeholders as earlier mentioned. Therefore, the study is important to lower the cost of the health care to ensure that even the less privileged individuals get access to better health care.
The set acts will help in increasing accessibility to health care at affordable prices to the majority of the ordinary citizens. Some of the strategies that can be used to improve health for the American population include improving and investing in the health care system by the private sector. Other strategies include making the different forms of health care more reliable, patient-centered, and safe (Dean et al., 2015). This problem is also significant because it helps in improving the health of the American population through supporting the proven interventions to help in addressing behavioral, environmental and social determinants of health which impact delivery of high quality care. Reducing the cost of the quality care for families and individuals will help in bettering the health of Americans.
This problem is also significant because it will help in providing health care facilities for the organizations (Baciu & Sharfstein, 2016). Furthermore, this problem is significant because when the issue is solved the American population will have the chance of getting medical health care at affordable prices. This option will also help the poor individuals who cannot afford the health care opportunities to have the chance.
Recommendations
The individuals making the policies should enhance adoption of the self-management programs. In promoting health care for the American population, it is important to support the public education on the same. Another strategy is that the policy makers should ensure that quality health care services are offered in the different health care institutions across the country including the remote areas. Although there are ongoing debates concerning the ability of the different health care systems, reforms need to be put in place to help in increasing the value. Therefore, to reform the health care system, different attributes can be used to lower the cost of growth and improving health. Programs like Health Information Technology and Chronic Disease Management can be used to improve the health outcomes and improve the quality. Furthermore, the various reforms should be used to help in improving the value and reduce the cost of health care.
