The death penalty is capital punishment for the crime that is carried out legally against a person. It is the government's sanctioned practice that puts the person to death for committing a serious crime. The punishment of execution reduces capital crime in a country. The capital crimes are serious and mostly related to murders. I am arguing that capital punishment is a good practice as it solves the core problems of society and reduces the rate of crimes and murders. The capital punishment is good for society because it limits and reduces the rate of crimes in society. I support the death penalty as it alarms criminals to think before any capital crime. According to my view, the death penalty should be given to the guilty people instead of other punishments. The punishments like life incarceration create a negative impact on society, and many murderers remain alive even after killing other innocent people. An eye for an eye is a good judgment practice and is a fair justice system in my view. It is noticed that if any person takes the life of another person then it imbalances the justice. There are various arguments that support the death penalties.
The crime rate increases in the society due to the poor justice system and the criminals keep on killing innocent people because justice is not served. The good justice system can put the criminals behind the bars, and they are also hanged to death as a punishment. The fear of death can decrease the crime rate. The crime rate has increased due to leniency, and it encourages criminals to commit capital crimes easily. The society had a greater interest in preventing different capital crimes and save people from different losses. It was noticed that the rate of crime has increased in the last year. According to FBI, the number of rapes, murders, robberies, and assaults has increased, and it has affected many innocent people. The crime rate has increased in the U.S., and many murder cases were reported just along in Washington (Mark 1). The fear of death penalty plays an important role in reducing the violent crime rate. Due to the lack of strong courts, and qualified judges, attorneys, and advocates, the crime rate has increased in the world. The good governance system and strong justice system can impose death penalties to reduce the crime rate. The fear of one’s death will influence the criminals to think before being a part of any criminal activity (Church, Springer and Roberts 153).
The fear of death has increased among many people, and it prevents them from various criminal activities. The fear of death saves the life of many victims in society. Criminals are afraid of the severe justice system, and they start to think about punishments before committing any capital crime. Criminals have a fear of getting caught and it deters crime in the world. The death penalty is an effective action to save the victims. The death fear has reduced the incidence of robberies, murders, and other violent crimes in the world. It is a strong punishment that has an impact on criminals to avoid them from committing capital crimes. The strong justices system and other law enforcement agencies have increased the fear of death among different people, and it also decreases the criminal activities. It is noticed in China that people have a fear of death due to the death penalty for certain crimes, and it helps in reducing the crime rate in the country (He 161).
However, the refusal of the death penalty by many is based on the fact that it is not possible to serve justice under all circumstances and putting someone to death for crimes that he/she has allegedly committed is not a clear approach. Even in countries where the death penalty is practiced serious crimes do take place. The fear of death is not justified reason for avoiding crimes. The death penalty does not always ensure a fair criminal justice system in the state, and it does not prevent the people from committing various crimes. The people know that if anyone is caught in any capital crime then the punishment will be death. However, it must be understood that the death penalty in countries does not mean that the crime rates will fall. It requires a strong criminal justice system that plays a major role in reducing the number of criminals and crimes and ensures the safe and sound environment. It has been reported that capital punishment is not served on a uniform basis. It is applied in few cases and in most of the cases similar crimes receive other forms of punishment. Moreover, education and development of individuals also contribute significantly to the reduction of crimes. Some also argue that retribution is wrong as death penalty supports vengeance that is immoral. They are of the view that for other crimes such as rape offenders are not punished by sexual assault. Therefore, the death penalty should be reconsidered, and other harsh punishments should be served for those who commit serious crimes.
Despite the counter arguments, I am of the view that homicide is taking someone life that is the most precious asset, and right of every individual and such heinous crime should be punished with death penalty. The death penalty practice will discourage the criminals from doing different capital crimes. It decreases the homicide and saves the lives of various people. It was noted that the fear of one’s death has decreased the homicide rate in U.S. The rate of murder has reduced, and improvement in the justice system of the region is observed. The people know that if anyone takes the life of others, then they will face a death penalty. Such laws help to control the homicide rate and prevent the people from different losses (Church, Springer and Roberts 405). Overall, I think that death penalty is a good practice for reducing the crimes rate in the world.
