In my everyday life we often face to face with the real problem with hypocrisy. By this reason scientists started to study this phenomenon.
Among different articles about hypocrisy I have found an interesting correlational survey, which was done by group of scientists. They asked people to judge speaker`s degree of hypocrisy in case when they admit contradiction between their words and deeds. For example: “In my opinion it’s wrong idea to waste water, but I sometimes can do it.” It has been discovered that people think this case is not demonstration of hypocrisy. I suppose that the study is correlational because researchers don`t create any special conditions for it, they assume that the relation between two variables exists and just check it.
What methodology is used to survey phenomena of hypocrisy?
We review one of experiments of studying this subject. The survey is based on the opinion that hat moral condemnation is treated as a signal that one will behave morally in the future. (Jordan et al 5)
How is data collection conducted?
What is statistical analysis of researching?
Authors found a significant main effect of information condition; subjects evaluated targets more positively in the good-information condition than in the no-information condition. This result served as a manipulation check, demonstrating that direct positive information about the target’s moral behavior was perceived as a clear indication of moral goodness. (Jordan et al 10)
