Capitalism And Health Care in US
Americans are afraid to contact the emergency medical room (Emergency Room - ER) due to long lines, numerous medical errors and depressive atmosphere (lack of seats, crying, moaning, cursing, blood) prevailing in waiting rooms. That conclusion was reached by experts of a number of non-profit organizations who have studied the attitude of residents of the United States to a modern health care system.
It is important to admit that the work of ER has been criticized for at least three decades. However, only in recent years, Americans have come to prefer self-treatment, rather than a visit to the hospital.
According to an online survey with the statement "worse than waiting in the ER may only be death" agree about 25% of the population. They are willing to endure the pain, swallow handfuls of pills from the nearest grocery, trust dressings and other amateur’s procedures - but would not go to the ER (Manthous, 2009).
Ironically, most of the visits to the ER neglected middle class. To be treated in normal doctors they do not allow the lack of insurance and go to the emergency room, they cannot because of work schedules.
Capitalism versus Medicine
Why is everything in the United States so expensive even due to the different standards? The answer is the political standards (capitalism, socialism). In this area, medicine, socialism in the United States is strong, as perhaps in no other. And the most developed (anecdotal, but the fact) it is prohibitive part of socialism.
Under the name of "caring for the health of the people" all the activities of people associated with the provision of health services and medical products production are regulated "from head to toe". Let us consider an example: you can, without asking anyone to make a stool and sell it to another person. You can repair his car. No problem. You can even create a furniture group, even though the network auto-repair businesses. This is your job. But in the US, you cannot work in medicine without asking the customer or cure the common cold. If have done such an action, you immediately will be taken to the appropriate Department of Health Services, then the police, courts and prisons. Everything connected with medicine, is subject to US strict licensing, certification, etc (Young and Schwartz, 2014).
The medical system is spoiled by insurance corporations and super expensive treatment in the United States. If you are broke and go to a doctor in New Zealand (Canada, Australia), it will cost you zero, however, if you go to a private clinic, it will cost you $6000; and if you break your arm in the United States - $ 60 000 (Comarow, 2001). For a long time doctors used to get money from the insurance corporations. If I understand correctly, something like this works and the usual insurance: crumpled fender of the new machine can be changed from craftsmen for $ 400 and the insurance they will enter in the bill of $ 4000 - will pay because the corporation (Comarow, 2001). So it is unprofitable and financially difficult get sick without insurance in the United States.
Obamacare
The most important point of the Obamacare is that medical insurance has become mandatory. This means that every person living in the United States is obliged to have health insurance; it is obliged to be bought, if the employer does not provide it, or if before that time he had no insurance. If a person does not do this, there is a penalty. The first year it was 1% of the person's income, and with each successive year will increase; in 2015, the year - 2%, in 2016 - 2.5%. Most likely, the penalty will continue to grow.
Speaking globally, this program is the pure socialism, for which Obama was criticized, because many people are against any socialist things. This is a situation where the rich pay more taxes so that the poor could be insurance. Adding an extra tax for people who earn more than 200 thousand dollars per year or couples who earn more than 250 thousand dollars per year. These people pay an additional 1% tax, which is called the Medicare Hospital Tax (Young and Schwartz, 2014).
Sisters Citizens
The state ideology in the United States has not changed. The adoption of laws, equalizing the black population of the country with the same rights as whites is just a kind of cosmetic procedure that hides the real situation. Racism continues to exist.
The government has many tools to control, persecution and murder of African-Americans, especially the dissidents: women, girls, the poor, prostitutes, people with disabilities and other non-standard cases. Whether it is a deprivation of liberty, forced direction of children in foster families, reducing food stamps, Medicaid cuts.
Conclusion
Socialism and normal medicine are not compatible - under socialism always, someone will decide whether or not to hurt the man, his life or death, and a man cannot do anything for himself. The average cost of medicine will be higher under socialism than under capitalism. Socialist of the medicine will be to stifle the normal, market medicine. Socialized medicine would be much worse than the capitalist (which may, for example, manifest in the ban of new treatments). The United States is a perfect example that confirms this conclusion.
