Market Research
Every year, most Britons like to go on vacations. The primary aim is to escape the harsh winter weather. The most common destinations preferred by British citizens are usually in the tropical or temperate regions. In these areas, temperatures are mild and provide a lot of comforts. A recent study stated that in 2016, almost a quarter of the population will be willing to spend more on their holidays. This finding is, of course, in relation to the previous year.
Furthermore, the research stated that one in five citizens will travel to a place they have never been before. This group represents 18% of the population. In the previous year, only 9% would have taken that option. A significant segment of the citizens would also like to travel to a new city or resort, despite having visited the place before. One emerging trend is the preference for Western Mediterranean destinations. For this reason, the area is bound to get bumper profits over the coming year and beyond.
Seemingly, there is a shift towards tried and tested destinations. The main reason for this phenomenon is mainly the geopolitical uncertainty the world currently faces. With the political upheavals in the middle-east, security concerns are rife. Terrorism has now become a global threat rather than a localized issue. Destinations such as North Africa are now considered unsafe. Most people now feel prompted to visit their old favorites within Europe. The favorable exchange rate with the euro further fuels this event. Therefore, most Britons might visit neighboring nations or spend their holidays within the country. Those who choose to stay in the country might seek the services of Resorts, Hotels, and B&BS.
Differences between B&B and Hotels
B&Bs, in general, are smaller than hotels. For this reason, they accommodate much fewer people. They offer a limited set of services such as luxurious furniture, home electronics and associated amenities. However, these facilities do have some incentives such as a homemade breakfast. Most visitors claim that there is nothing that beats a fresh, well-prepared breakfast in the morning.
B&Bs are mainly family businesses. They often do not employ permanent staff. Hotels, on the other hand, operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They employ permanent staff and even have receptionists to welcome visitors. All other staff members within a hotel usually have dedicated roles.
Hotels and B&Bs receive different treatment by the law. B&Bs have less strict standards of operation compared to the hotels.
Objectives
Primary research methods
Travel newspapers and magazines. These materials represent a collection of information derived from all over the country. The writers and editors of these publications are professionals who have gathered experience in seeking accurate information. Therefore, they become a reliable source in the topics they discuss, including travel and holidays.
Interactions with Travel agencies- These people gather information on the general holiday preference of travelers. They undertake bookings and reservations. Therefore, they have crucial statistical data on preferred destinations. For this reason, they become a first-hand source of information.
Review of Laws and Regulations- reviewing both local and national laws will give crucial information about taxes and operational rules. Such information will assist in financial planning and institutional organization to ensure that the B&Bs play by the regulations.
