I MIKE LARSON state under oath that:
I have been a special Agent of the police station located 450 110 Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004 for approximately five years. I have the necessary authority to carry out investigation of crimes involving theft. All the information that I submit in this affidavit is a consequence of the investigations that I have carried out and communicated to me by other officers involved in the investigation.
I have compelling reasons to believe that there is probable cause to issue a search warrant for the vehicle belonging to Joe A. and identified as Black Toyota Camry, 4 doors, License Plate: WA-123ABC, for evidence of theft. The evidence sought is a ski mask, a black semiautomatic gun, $820, and several cartons of cigarettes. The source of my conviction is set out below.
The suspect, Joe A., born on 11-12-1983 , White, male, 5’10”, 185 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes, no tattoos, scars, or marks, was flagged down by the police on patrol on 11-31-2014 at around 11:05 AM for a violation regarding vehicle registration. The police realized that there was a warrant for his arrest for theft and after conducting a lawful arrest on him, the police discovered a note from one of Joe’s pocket. The note stated, “Put all the money from your drawer in this bag, do not alert anyone and leave out any dye packs”.
Even before the police on patrol could react to the note, there were radio alerts informing that a robbery had taken place at a 7-11 store in Redmond less than ten minutes ago. The radio alerts also informed that a male whose descriptions matched those of Joe, wearing a ski mast, and armed with as semiautomatic gun had escaped with several cartons of cigarettes and $820. Further, the robbery suspect drove a black four door Toyota whose description matched the car that Joe was driving at the time the police on patrol flagged him down.
A closer look at the backseat of the vehicle, the police on patrol discovered a blanket that was covering something bulky. As one of the police on patrol, I informed Joe of his Mirada warning and he immediately requested and attorney before we transported him to jail.
According to the information supplied by the radio alerts, the victim, Ima, born on 1-2-1972, White, female, 5’05”, 145 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, was working at 7-11 at the time of the robbery. The location where the police on patrol flagged down the suspect’s car was 156th Ave NE and Bel-Red Rd, Bellevue, WA 98008 and the location of the robbery was 7-11 at 5040 148th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052.
Based on the information supplied by the radio alerts minutes after arresting the suspect, I began investigating Joe A. on 11-31-2014 when I interviewed him in the presence of his lawyer. The suspect agreed that before the police on patrol flagged down his car he was coming from Bel-Red Rd, Bellevue, WA, which is the area where the robbery took place.
I have a strong conviction that I am highly likely to recover the aforementioned items: a ski mask, a black semiautomatic gun, $820, and several cartons of cigarettes from the vehicle of the suspect, which until now is lawfully detained in the Bellevue police station located 450 110 Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98004.
I hereby certify under the penalty of perjury of the State of Washington laws that everything that I have stated herein is correct and true to the best of my knowledge and belief.
