1. The organization is based on an ethical culture where the activities and performance of the employees are according to a written code of conduct. The culture influences the employees to work effectively and in the right manner such as transparency and honesty. Some organizations have different cultures that may not lead to positive and effective values. The only recommended change in the ethical culture would be the respect and fair treatment of people from ethnic groups.
2. To evaluate if a firm is one of ‘the good guys’ or not is often through assumption or the reputation of the firm. The Coca-Cola Company has a decent culture which has made it survive in the beverage industry for many years. Exxon Mobile has a bad reputation on transparency according to the reputation on climate change. The information gathered proves that Coca-Cola values the different cultures in the various countries. Exxon Mobile has been facing backlash due to the issue of climate change hence spoiling its reputation.
3. Giving equal weight and consideration to environmental and social factors of an organization begins by addressing the employees on the issue to be addressed. Involving the employees helps in addressing all issues that affect the environmental and social factors. Employees are the most important stakeholders of an organization.
4. An ethically effective culture can be characterized by the performance and quality of their services or products. The ethical culture helps in creating an effective environment and the motivation for the workers to provide good performance. They also portray quality values in social and environmental factors.
5. The hiring process should involve the evaluation of skills, habits, and attitude of the workers according to the firm’s culture. The recruits can be given a simple task that helps in judging their attitude and habits. The employees who do not fit the firm’s culture should be informed of the culture and given time to adjust. However, failure to adjust then the manager should dismiss them to avoid misconduct.
6. Compliance-based cultures have the benefit of increased profits due to excellent performance and good quality services and products. They also face more costs and expenses when trying to recruit and train people to work according to the firm’s culture.
7. The reporting structure should be through suggestion or complaint box which makes the report anonymously. It helps in avoiding conflicts that may result from reporting peers. The implementation of the Suggestion or complaint box would be checked regularly and the information should private and anonymous.
8. In a new organization, charismatic and informative leaders would be effective in creating and managing the new team. Creating a code of conduct and mission statement would help in giving the team members an objective. Compliance programs would also help in motivating the members to provide good performance that would lead to great profits and a good reputation.
