Security is among the top most priorities that exist in many countries and therefore it is an important aspect that ought to be looked upon. Economic, social, as well as political stability is usually attained when the security situation of a country is good and reliable, that is, where cases of insecurity are tamed. The U.S is one of the countries that highly prioritizes security and has therefore invested heavily in this sector. With the ever increasing level of terrorist threats as well as threats from individuals who want to steal from others, there has been needing to increase security levels so as to fight any form of insecurity that rises. This has therefore resulted in the phenomenon of militia in the U.S.
The United States militia consists of two major branches, namely U.S. federal militia forces which consist of the United States National Guard, and the U.S. states’ militia, which consist of the state defense forces as well as the naval militia (United States. War Dept. Division of militia affairs, 1911) Such militia groups are considered to be of great benefit to the country due to the fact that they are able to fight crime where other forces have not been able to do so. The militias are usually used as an emergency measure in protecting national security as well as defending homeland in lieu of the regular standing force. Therefore the militia groups have a very great implication as far as they are concerned with security matters. The militia groups fight any security threats to the nation to the extent that they eliminate any breach of security. National security comes first and the militia groups are at the heart of ensuring that the Nation’s security is overlooked.
