My test score for the positive thinking questionnaire was 5 points. It also states that I might be overwhelmed by the negative thinking at some times. I think that I have not thought of myself as a negative thinker before. There are many reframing techniques that I should use on the daily basis. I have considered many of them that have been provided in this assignment. The reframe regarding the negative thought #2 is very important for me. It states that “should” does not help people to get the work done. It only punishes and brings down the enthusiasm during the process of working. It is important to face the reality in order to achieve a goal which is likely to work better that scolding yourself. Also, the positive attitude towards myself and my friends may improve the level of my life. Perfectionism is one of the issues that I decided to reconsider after taking this test. I always try to do my best in everything, but I guess I forget that I am only human and there is so much I can do in every case. APA states “both adaptive and maladaptive perfectionists have high personal standards” (Benson 2003). And it is a problem that many people have their own personalities. This process does not depend on the others. I am as one of the representatives of perfectionism can tell that we are just being tough on ourselves. Anxiety BC says that one of the ways to overcome perfectionism is to be able to recognize it (Anxiety BC 2017). Therefore, I think I am moving in the right direction.
This assignment was very helpful because I was able to understand my personality and character better. I have never paid that much attention to the processes of thinking. Also, reframing is a good technique that can be used in order to be less harsh on me. It is the assignment which may become the first step towards my self-work. Positive thinking is a very useful piece of knowledge. It is hard to follow the positive attitude at all times. However, I will try my best to follow the reframing techniques.
