Introduction
Modern culture is associated with globalization significantly. The cultural activities of the current world are adjusting to synchronize with the development of the recent years. One of the key impacts that have happened is technology (Tomlinson 8). The advances that have happened have required the communities to forget some of the old ways of doing things and adjust to the new ones. Globalization is not always a bad thing as some of the changes that have come with it are beneficial to most aspects for the people.
According to Victoria Lockwood (12), Other issues are significant in the changes that have taken place such as global politics. Affiliations of different countries politically have an influence on how the states relate. This situation makes it either easier or harder for the countries to have relationships deeper than others. They are referred to as allies and are there for each other in times of problems (13). "Dissolves the securities of locality, it offers new understandings of experience in wider-ultimately global-terms" (Tomlinson 30). Globalization is not only filled with disadvantages but also brings some benefits as well.
Research Problem
The aim of the paper is to identify the effect of globalization on culture today. Culture has been the trends that different people have regarding different things in the society. With the current changes, some of them are bound to change to accommodate some of them (Fagan and Munck, 890). Security has become a challenge with all sorts of software and hardware been created by people and being used in ways that threaten the global peace.
Stiglitz (80), explains that some of the superior organizations of the world have become part of the reason that some countries have been helpful to the world. However, it is also thought to be a problem. For example, IMF policies make it difficult for most countries to gain financial stability. They end up in debts that eventually get them into crisis. One such example is East Asia. The IMF has been said to exceed its original mandate and make decisions that do not necessarily benefit the countries (Stiglitz 206). However, Tomlinson, explains that the organization is not always a bad thing. Because they help some of the countries during the financial crisis. "Dissolves the securities of locality, it offers new understandings of experience in wider-ultimately global-terms" (Tomlinson 30)
This paper aims at showing the impact that globalization has on culture in the today's world. It is important to study these issues to enable leaders and decision makers to be knowledgeable of the factors to consider. Globalization is significant it has changed the economy of the world. In an attempt to make the markets for products become one (Appadurai 40). Religions of different people have changed significantly due to the current trends of the world (Beyer and Lori 608). Some countries such as Canada has had difficult times with modernization. The people fight against acts that they see are going to affect the country in the long run such as environmental exploitation. Croisy, also states it is not only in Canada, but most of the minority cultures have difficulties adjusting to the modernization that has taken place in the recent past (20).
Research Method
The research will be done using qualitative research methods. The researcher utilized the already available information in books, journals, and articles to gather the necessary data. Qualitative studies aim at getting into the details of the events that happen and will be beneficial for this study because the researcher wants to find out how globalization has influenced the culture today. There are a few main issues that will be of interest in this paper. One of them is how globalization affects the educational culture of today, the way people learn in the recent world has changed drastically from the old class attendance to online and distance learning which is enabled by technology (Sinagatullin 114). There is a need to find out if the way education is passed on has changed in the wake of global changes. The other is religion. To identify the transition that has taken place for different religious groups in the modern days. The impact of globalization on the environment is significant to recognize as well. The way that current trends have led to the environmental effects that are being experienced such as climate change.
