I fully agree that innovation in education is born when it is so needed to ensure high quality and fulfillment of all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers and employers. At the same time, I am not in full agreement with the argument that a new practice soon loses enthusiasm on the part of the implementers. On the other hand, an innovation gets outdated when a new need, which requires certain new strategies to be put in place, arises to make the system more effective. For instance, innovative delivery methods are important in secondary education in light of continuous changes occurring in the economy and social environment surrounding students. Active learning and through mastering of latest technologies help students improve their capacity and employability (Educational innovation, 2017). The employment market continues to demand more talents from aspiring youngsters which warrants educational institutions to continuously have flexible strategies that incorporate innovations from time to time.
The second agreement teachers teach the way they themselves were taught is of course true to certain extent as students take inspiration from their teachers during their school days. Teachers do influence students as students spend a major part of their school life observing them (Victor, 2015). However, I do not believe that teachers completely emulate the teachers who taught them many years ago as the environment is totally changed today. For instance, information technology and computers have completely transformed the delivery methodology of education today. More importantly, education today requires teachers to strive for perfection through continuous learning and development. Therefore, one cannot do justice to the profession unless he changes his style of teaching to suit the genuine needs of the students and the ever changing social and environmental needs.
