- Births to teenagers continues to increase in the United States
I analyzed the government report of 2012, and have found that, amongst the teenagers who are in the age range of 15-19, there were about 29.4 births per 1,000 women. This had got reduced by 6% as compared to last year. And, if we compare these statistics with the reports of 1991, the rate has fallen by over one-half. Records were low for both 15-17 aged women as well as for the 18-19 aged women. We were able to find these reduced rates amongst all the racial and ethnic groups in U.S. Further, it was also noted that, the birth rate for the women in 20s also had decreased by 3% as compared to earlier year. On the other hand, for the women aging in 30-34 and in 35-39, the rates had increased by 1% and 2% respectively as compared to the statistical reports of 2011. Similarly, the rates had even increased for the women who were aging in 40-44 years. Thus, overall the births to teenagers had decreased in the United States, and thus the given statement turns out to be false.
- The typical family structure in the United States is comprised of a married couple with their children.
As per the U.S. Census Bureau reports of 2003, it has been noted that there were about 111,278 thousand households, and out of them there were about 75,596 thousand family households. Such households consisted of married couple, male household and female household. But, around 57,320 thousand households included married couple. Out of these households, there were about 30,261 thousand households that included children. So more than 50% of the households have children, and this indicates that the family structure involves a married couple and their children. There are male and female households that do not have children, but they are very less in number. This indicates that majority of the households have children in their homes, and the parent are nurturing them. Thus, the given statement holds true as far as the typical structure of family in the United States is concerned.
- In comparison to other age groups, the elderly are more likely to be in poverty.
As per the Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States reports of 2010, it has been noted that, the poverty rates for the people of age 65 and older was around 9%. As of 2010, there were about 3.5 million senior people who were facing with the issues of poverty. These estimates did not differ with the reports of 2009. However, if we compare this rate with the rates of the people of other ages, it surely differed. The poverty rate for the rest of the population was 15.1 percent, which shows that elderly people are not likely to be poorer. In addition, people of age 18 years and below are suffering more from poverty as compared to the elder ones. We can find the evidences in the report for all the communities in U.S., and which concludes that the given statement is false.
The assessment has been carried out by taking into consideration all the research reports provided by the U.S. government. However, there are certain factors such as demographics and communities that have not been considered, but still the results will not have a major impact of these factors. Thus, out of the given three statements, one was true and the other two were false.
