Interview Report
What did you find - any pattern?
I found that there was a close association present between the consumer preference and the economic status of the individuals that were interviewed. It is important to acknowledge that fashion brands differ in their price based on consumer demand and perception. Hence, fashion brands that have gained high consumer demand due to their quality may have a greater appeal on the consumers leading to an increase in price. From the responses received from the respondents, it was evident that those without the capacity to purchase high-fashion brands had limited information about them. However, individuals from the high economic class seemed to have information and prefer high fashion brands that were examined in the study.
The interview also revealed high consumer trust with regard to the high consumer brands. Consumers were observed to associate high fashion brands with an increase in quality. All the respondents observed that they preferred to spend more money on high fashion brands due to their optimal comfort, appearance and durability. High fashion brands were increasingly associated with increased utility for the consumer leading to consumer preference towards the brand despite the higher cost. I also found that the respondents preferred brands that were from different locations such as Italy and Spain. This may be attributed to the desire to possess unique products.
Did you find any insight that is new to you?
Consumers have been observed to be attracted to cheap brands and disposable clothes that last for a limited amount of time. This has resulted in the increased adoption of fast fashion, which ultimately results in the loss ow funds to clothing that has a poor quality. The interview revealed the tendency for fashion brands offering their consumers additional packages to influence them towards acknowledging the need for quality in comparison to quality. The interview revealed different initiatives that have been launched by fashion brands aimed at attracting more consumers to high fashion brands. One of the interviewees noted that she had purchased a bag from Saddleback Leather Co., which offered her a guarantee on the item. This is an uncommon trend in the fashion industry. However, it is evident that consumer brands are increasingly emphasizing on the need for quality despite the high cost of production and sale.
The interview also presented an insight into the desire for consumers to look unique in reference to the products that they choose to purchase. The interviewees were observed to prefer to explore brands, which were not famous in contrast to my expectation. After the interview, consumers wanted more information about the brands, which were previously unknown to them. I associated the outcome to the desire for consumers to acquire exotic and unique products, which were uncommon in their immediate surrounding. In addition, females in the interview were observed to be more knowledgeable on fashion brands whereas males had less interest in the fashion brands presented in the interview.
Do you find Triading technique effective and how would you improve it?
The triading approach that was employed in the interview was effective since it assisted in the development of additional perspectives to the study. It is imperative to note that the discussions that were triggered during the triad interviews assisted in the development of viable conclusions for the study. The interviewees were more involved and interested in the topic. In addition, the study was able to derive more information that I had anticipated due to the diversion into different topics, which were triggered by the initial discussion questions. Also, the triad approach enhanced the participation and interest of the interviewees since it offered a greater conversation platform for the interviewees. This prevented monologues and allowed instant responses from the persons involved.
In order to enhance the results of the triad approach, it is important to conduct a preliminary discussion between the interviewees before the actual interview. This would ensure that the interviews are aware of the perspectives of different participants prior to participation in the discussion. Moreover, the interviewees would be prompted to prepare for the interview through the acquisition of data on the subject, thus enhancing the results of the interview. The triad approach can also be enhanced through permitting the interviewees to refer to different sources of information during the discussion. Despite the greater amount of time the approach would consume, it would ease the research through the acquisition of informed opinions from the interviewees.
