Fate At The Post Office Essay Example

Who could have though that a simple act of sending a card at the post office would have profound changes in my life? It was my aunt’s birthday in a couple of weeks so I decided to get a card for her and send it through the mail, instead of just greeting her online . With the card in my hand I waited in line for my turn at the counter and then I noticed that the person in front of me had an envelope addressed to my aunt as well. I tried hard to contain my curiousity, but to no avail. I tapped the person in front of me, apologized for looking at her mail, and asked how she knew my aunt. That conversation was the start of a friendship we shared until this day.
I consider that meeting an incident of fate. I very rarely send handwritten greetings, even to my families. Social media or a phone call is quicker and more interactive. Looking back at the events leading to that meeting, I noticed two things. One, I chanced upon the display of birthday cards while I was looking for another item at the bookstore, and second I chanced upon a short feature on TV about cards made by children. I think those events were really connected.
I am convinced that meeting my new friend was an act of fate. She related that it was not her intention to go to the post office that day but she changed her mind when she remembered my aunt’s birthday. At present, we share not only the friendship with my aunt but we also have other common interests. We use to engage in activities that certainly developed my skills. And although my friend had already moved to another place we still maintain a connection. Both of us make sure that one of us sends the other a card through the mail, to remind us of that fateful day.
