The main effect of the depression on the United States of America was extended government involvement into brand new sections of economic and social matters and the establishment of more public assistance agencies at the nationwide level. The link between the citizens and the local government took a very significant change as the national government developed an open minded large political coalition that considered small farmers, poor people, religious minorities, blacks and labor unions.
