Research Approach
The approach to this study will be inductive.
The data collected will endeavor to analyze the budgeting process, costing process, managerial accounting information systems (Balanced Scorecard), capital decisions and capital acquisitions used in Coca Cola Company.
Methodology: Research Strategies
The data collection process will involve a combination of both secondary and primary data.
The primary research will entail interviews and questionnaires given to the employees of Coca Cola Company using the survey method.
Secondary data for Coca Cola Company is available, and in this project, the data will be retrieved from Coca Cola’s notes, reports, minutes from meetings and emails.
Data Collection
Interview with the budgetary committee and personnel will be carried out in order to determine whether how non financial and financial information regarding the company’s operations is carried out.
The interview with the personnel will involve free approach with open-ended questions in order to allow employees to participate in the interview more freely.
Structured and unstructured interviews will be employed.
Questionnaires will be distributed in the budgeting department containing structured questions to be answered by employees in the department.
Budgetary estimates and the actual budget figures will be obtained from the annual report and the quarterly reports produced by the company.
Interview with executive officers will be conducted in order to gain knowledge on the metrics used for indicating financial and nonfinancial information.
Information regarding the balance scorecard will be obtained from the company’s report, and metrics in the current balance scorecard will be compared with the actual performance of the company in order to estimate whether the metrics are realistic.
Interview with the heads of production departments together with the respective employees will be conducted in order to comprehend which costing system is used in the company.
Structured questionnaires will be distributed to the employees in the production department in order to get first hand information on how costing is conducted.
Departmental reports and executive reports will be used to provide secondary information regarding the costing process in Coca Cola Company.
Interviews with the senior executive officers will be conducted in regards to capital decisions and capital acquisitions.
Executive reports, emails and minutes from meetings will be used in providing the process of decision making process in Coca Cola Company.
Additional information will be obtained from the annual report of the company which will serve as the secondary data for the project.
Sample Size
The population that will be used in the project will be the managers and employees of Coca Cola Company.
The sample will include group of employees still working in one of the segments in North America.
A mixture of both non-probability and probability will be used.
Remaining staff in other segments apart from North America will be used in the research.
Presentation of findings
The findings will be presented in the project in a report format.
