Nursing Supervisor Interview Summary
The hospital has various personnel and each and every one of them is tasked to carry out various functions which are always different in one way or the other. Due to the fact that they are always from different departments, their duties will vary and hence the managerial department will always require an individual who can ensure that all the personnel carry out their activities in the stipulated manner. This individual is normally referred to as the supervisor. This individual is normally referred to as the bridge between the nurses from the various departments and further between the institution and their patients.
He or she is always tasked with the responsibility of defining the duties of the personnel at the hospital and further ensuring that these functions are carried out in with utmost care and the hospital’s ethics are adhered to. In addition to this, the supervisor is the one who is tasked with the duty of receiving the interns and the new recruits into the hospital, orient them and further train them in how they are required to conduct their functions at the institution.
The supervisor is further tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the patients are cared for effectively. She will at times go to the patients individually and inquire how they are being treated and attended to by the nurses. In instances that the patients or their families have inquiries, or complaints pertaining to the activities at the hospital, she is the one who is mandated to hear and determine these cases.
As for the interview, it was clear that, she conducts her business in a professional manner due to the fact that she performs her duty as per the required standards and knowledge that would reciprocate in the betterment of the patient’s health. The fact that she will be held liable for her conduct makes her ensure that the level of care towards her patients must be up to the task. Her level of professionalism runs from all the activities she carries out to how she carries them out. Due to the fact that she is the one mandated to delegate duties to the other nurses, she must ensure that the individual who she chooses to perform the activity is one who is qualified to effectively perform it. This is due to the fact that in instances that there’s a problem she will be liable for the actions that were carried out and disciplinary actions may be taken against her in such cases.
In addition to this, she is required to address the patients with complete honesty and integrity in all situations. This is further due to the fact that she will always be held accountable for whatever she says to the patients or their families pertaining to the health conditions of their patients . Her level of professionalism is further depicted from even what she wears. With all this it is clear that she her professional responsibility plays a huge role in how she carries out her activities.
The fact that she always performs her duties with the utmost professionalism in order to ensure that the patients’ health betters, may be reason enough for her to be considered to be a steward of health care. She goes ahead to give vital information pertaining to how to better their health shows that the she cares for the health levels not only for the patients but also those who visit the hospital(Krautscheid, 2014).
With her being a leader, it is important that she allows the other nurses to have a chance to effectively pass their information when possible. This is why she is always a part of the various departmental meetings and further she normally boasts as a mother or a sister to her colleagues which in turn means that she can easily be approached by the personnel when they are faced with the problem.
In conclusion, the interview was a success and enabled me to really understand the functions of my supervisor and further understand the various issues factors which determine how she carries out her activities.
