Literature
The perception of Joseph contradicts with what other thinks as he says, “Poetry is like bird.” The illiterate lad decides to abstain from petty crimes and study on the blacks’ history. The game of poetry was flexible to accommodate different understanding of the context. He differs with other students who believed that the novel, Heart of Darkness sheds light on the redemption and suffering of Africans. Joseph had a deep believe that the black’s history was underrated and nothing good was observed from it. The understanding of the poetry according to him means that the visionary literary work discussed colors but not anguish. The words, “wings outspread or beating and curving,” may be referring to the colors that curve beside each other as those of the rainbow. Here, he mentions the white sun above Congo that cannot blend with green foliage and the blackness restored in the people. The wings are the white people who want to dominate over the other colors. The colors have a hidden mean and it takes an individual skills and experiences to interpret them. The absurdity remains unclear because of the sterility of the whites. Joseph was acrimonious on the conduct of the European powers to exploit the colors in the vast Congo for their own benefit. He has a notion that he understands everything than the rest, but nobody is making any efforts to fit his shoes. His interpretation of things is unique and it contradicts with Shaz. Ideally, Shaz believes she is right to depend on the earnings of Monica, generated from prostitution. However, when Joseph realizes the behavior, he becomes infuriated and emotional and condemns such beliefs. “The whole music is in the bird wing,” shows the views of Joseph and remains adamant to change.
Second quote
This quote shows that, it iss obviously normal to see a girl walking around the beach when she is in a bathing suit. People in the beach take it obvious for a girl to wear a bathing suit, and they rarely look at them when they walk around. Even If people in the beach would give a dirty look on the girls in a bathing suit, they would not wonder or get surprised by what they have seen.
“Against all those stacked packages” implies that, it was obviously unacceptable and against the culture for girls to expose their bodies. It is against the will and moral standards of the people in the grocery to engage themselves in staring at the half naked girl, because this would only be accepted at the beach.
However, it is unacceptable for a girl in a bathing suit to go in a public place such as grocery where the lightings are illuminating on her. It is, therefore, against the moral standard for a girl to wear a bathing suit or a bikini in a public place where all sorts of people are present. Girls wearing bathing suit under the fluorescent lights reveals can be considered as something strange and practically unheard of. As a result, a girl wearing bikini in the public would show how that girl is irresponsible and wild. In ancient times, girls walking half naked was an unusual thing and morally unacceptable. The quote shows how the ancient society used to respect women, and women respected the society, as well. However, in the modern times, seeing a girl in a bikini, in the public is a normal thing since people have abandoned their culture.
