Food.inc is a movie produced by Jeff Skoll and Diane Weyemann in 2008. It's a documentary move. The purpose of this movie is to make people aware of what they eat and to expose the dark side of food industry. It shows how the food industry changed and how it changed farmers two. The movie also shows us the animal mistreatment.
A chicken in 2008 is twice bigger than a chicken in 1950. It’s growing bigger and faster than a chicken in 1950. In 48 days the chicken will be bigger than a 70 days chicken in 1950. The food industry wants to have as big chicken as possible in a short time by cheap cost.
The companies in food industry don’t want the people to see what’s inside the chicken farm. The chickens are mistreated; in some farms the chickens don’t see the sunlight. As Carole Wilson said: "This is not farming". It's like chicken factories. The companies now increased the food factoring in a cheap price, so they sell for cheap.
Now it costs more money to buy organic healthy food. Instead the people tend to buy unhealthy fast food because it's cheaper, especially the people who can’t afford buying healthy food. You can have a cheeseburger and fries for about three dollars, and it's about four dollars for only organic lettuce. Eating unhealthy food causes many problems and diseases like obesity. Now because the corn is cheaper the companies start feeding the cows a lot of corn to grow faster. But that can cause e coli. A two years old boy Kevin died because of the e coli. The companies don’t care about people's lives they only care about money. Later on Kevin's law was proposed legislation that would have given the United States Department of Agriculture the power to close down plants that produce contaminated meat.
The food industry now is unethical. The companies’ only concern is to make money. They don't care how animals are treated or what happen to the people who consume unhealthy food. After watching this movie I will not eat beef meat from fast food restaurants. Yes, it’s cheap but it's healthy and it can cause me disease because the factories where these beef came from are growing them in bad conditions. Also after seeing how gross this industry is. I don’t think that I am going to eat chickens again.
