Article Analysis
The first article “Your Boss and Your Blackberry” is about privacy at the workplace. It explores of how far the boss is supposed to go when they are trying to make sure that workers maximize on their usage of time at work and monitoring of communication equipment to ensure that employees do not misuse them. The second article, "The only one: Being black in the white working world" speaks of the challenges involved when a black person works in an environment full of whites. The writer notes that though the discrimination may not be blatant, it is still evident in the behavior of other employees towards them.
The third article, "The sorry lives and confusing times of today's young men" is about the changes that technology has brought in the lives of people today, specifically men, who are criticized for being lazy. The article also provides statistical evidence to support the claim, noting that in a span of about 20 years, working young men have reduced significantly. The fourth article, "Why women still can't have it all" is a personal account bringing out the difficulty that faces women when it comes to balancing career and personal life. The fifth and final article, "The 23 best countries for work-life balance" ranks countries according to the balance of peoples lives in respect to work, leisure, and the care provided to the jobless, the old and the young, placing Netherlands at the top of the list.
The second article speaks of a problem that has existed for a long time, and of a war against discrimination that has not yet been won to date. The fourth article is an eye opener, and I completely agree with the author on the many problems facing career women all over the world, therefore forcing many women to make a choice on whether to stick to family care or aggressively strive to advance in their carreers.
