I heard the kids giggling, and I slowly opened my eyes. It was so relaxing and felt that I had enough sleep. I remember the night before I passed out. George, my husband, and I were talking about how busy our Saturday was, and at the same time, it was very productive. We were thinking that after this grueling task that we are going to have in our work, we will bring the kids out-of-town. We also talked about how happy we are that our friend Rita is getting married soon. And that day is today.
“Good morning, wife.” That’s my husband George. “It appears that someone had rested well. Hey, you better wake your nerves up because I just prepared our breakfast. I will go and bring and the kids down stairs. Please wake up, let’s eat, and we have a wedding to attend to.” George has been so sweet all these years. I am lucky. And I am thankful for that and this family. After a long tight and luxurious stretch, I thoroughly opened my eyes. I got into my feet, went to the bathroom for a quick gargle, checked my hair and went down for breakfast. Our two kids, Matt and Ash, started eating their cereals while George start pouring juices in our glasses. It was a picture of a happy, contented husband, looking after his kids and taking care of his wife and family. It was the usual morning activity that I always look forward. Easy, no rush and it seems that everyone is attentive to each other. After few more talks, we finished our breakfast and started preparing for my friend’s wedding. George cleaned up the table, and I start cleaning up and preparing the kids. Time flies and our kids are bunch little grown-ups. Matt and Ash looked wonderful in their nice neat clothes. It seemed that they enjoyed it because they keep on looking at themselves in the mirror. While I fix them, George went ahead and took a shower and prepared himself. This style is how we manage our responsibilities and chores in the house. We take turns. After a while, I took a shower, fix myself and after 30 minutes, we are all ready to go.
We arrived in the church and saw familiar faces. We chatted with few friends and exchange quick updates. Everyone is happy and excited. After a few minutes, we were all called up to start the wedding. It was surreal. There were smiles everywhere. The groom and the bride is a picture of happiness that day. It’s the day they have been waiting and planning. In fact, the closest friends who attended their wedding were part of the planning. Well-wishers hugged the couple as they walk along the aisle after their vows. George and I, together with the kids, had a picture with them. As we congratulate them, there were petals of flowers showering around. It was very beautiful. After the ceremony, everyone went out the church and proceed to the wedding reception that is few blocks away. Before George and I went to our car, we asked a friend to take our picture as a couple. We want to remember this important day because we are celebrating an important day of the one of the most important friends in our life. The picture appeared beautiful. It was a picture of a very happy couple. It was so funny how Matt and Ash appeared as photo bombers in this picture. They were running and giggling.
This event was 10 years ago. Up until now, George and I are very happy reliving every moment of that day.
