The JDA software will simplify the merchandise planner’s job through delivering supply solutions that span an end-to-end customer journey. JDA Software creates category management solutions that are realized when collaboration with retailers is used to create assortments for executing store management. This is done through consumer-driven insights at the micro and macro market level. The software also has an intelligent fulfillment solution that supports iterative planning and executions, resulting in reduced inventory costs, better customer service, and more agile operations. Additionally, JDA provides a manufacturing plan solution that addresses supply chain complexities through demand planning, inventory optimization, supply planning, factory planning, order promising, and sales and operations planning.
Some of the challenges the merchandise planner will encounter while using JDA include proper utilization of the software to meet all the supply solutions. The software may not be individually tailored to integrate with the merchandise planner’s challenges. Also, the planner may not be well trained in using the software making it difficult for him or her to achieve full functionality. Another problem entails coming up with an updated platform that will seamlessly support the latest version of the software. Previous software versions may not be strong enough to meet needs, and thus, the planner will require the most recent version. Hence, installation of proper equipment is a must. JDA may be the first and only software that links critical supply chains from projecting to transportation with inbuilt corporate analytics, making it a problem for the planner since the software may be expensive or unavailable when needed.
