Admission Essay: Prior Learning Experience (PLA)
My name is .. And my ID number is The academic major, which I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Public health. It is expected that I graduate within the next two years since I have completed all the general requirements in preparation for this experience. As a Public Health Major I anticipate becoming familiar with the areas in public health that I can use to benefit my community and the society generally. Consequently, I volunteer with the American Red, which I believe would afford me the opportunity of strengthening my acquired experiences whereby I direct all my energies towards earning my Public Health degree.
My Educational Goal Statement reflects the desire for me to obtain credits in COLL300 Research, Analysis, and Writing; PBHE315 - Health Economics and Finance; PBHE361 - Moral Issues in Health Care and PSYC406 – Psychopathology. These courses I now can provide me with the knowledge, skills and ability to function at a very high level in the profession I am pursuing. The Autobiography encompasses a number of work experiences that makes me an eligible candidate for this course. I performed duties of a customer service representative which I believe is relevant to public health since nurses often have to be advocates and serve as community resources in times of disaster or disease outbreaks. Also, my experience as Administrative Assistant to Vice President of Operations and general manager assistant are worthwhile skills especially, in public health management capacity to which I aspire.
Details recorded in my Resume verify these and other abilities I have demonstrated at a very high level in my work life. They are all consistent with a Bachelors of Public health major attainment. Some include Proficient in MS Office Programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as First Aid/CPR certification.
The Office Presentation Applications course enables students to understand and interpret technology trends pertinent to an efficient office presentation. It facilitates development of communication skills by utilizing applications, which would improve productivity within an office environment. This is articulated by integrating knowledge skills exposing students to the potentials embedded in their innate abilities to function at a much higher level than usual. Hence, during the course activity they are required to explore concepts that would lead them into developing and presenting power points; acquiring the skills to design charts; adopt illustrations to explaining content and becoming confident communicators (American Public University, 2013).
