Previous to my consideration to send my application to the University of Pittsburgh, I had been enrolled in a community college for two years. This was preceded by my one year at the University of California Davis for one year. I was however, not able to continue with my education and had to drop out from University of California, Davis following the ill-health of my father and financial constraints that came with the challenge. I then resorted to working as a full time waitress, tutor and later on as a sales clerk to be able to raise my tuition bills in order to get back to school. At that time and following the family challenges, my academic performance deteriorated and I was not able to produce good results academically due to the constraints.
I believe University of Pittsburgh will be the best place for me t study at since I have no responsible adult left in California to help me through this transition. However, I do have a close relative living in Pennsylvania who I believe will be, as he has always been, responsible in helping me with both moral and other necessary support. He will therefore help me during non school days b offering me accommodation and other basic necessities to supplement whatever little I may own then. In addition, I have had a cousin as a graduate student in the University of Pittsburgh, who always amazes me with funny stories in addition to sharing more about the quality of education offered in the University. This makes me get more interested in the university as I believe it will be the best place for me to enable me achieves my academic success that I have always yearned for despite the challenges that have fallen my way.
While in University of California Davis, I was a student of Zoology. A major that I explored for the one year I was in that university. However, I feel and I am highly motivated to focus on Business related courses, precisely Finance and Accounting related fields. I believe I will be a good student for either of these courses as I had a very good background in Mathematics and Statistics courses, where I achieved straight As. in both. I believe acquiring a degree in either of these courses will prepare me to strongly gear forward with a strong background. This will be useful to me not only in the professional world of job markets but also in the future endeavors in the academics. I plan on applying for Masters in Accountancy or Masters in Finance in the process of achieving my dream of becoming a either a CPA or CFA.
I believe I have the potential and looking back at all the challenges I have experienced, I feel readily and better prepared to become a better and a stringer person both academically and emotionally. I have also been confronted by many people who feel sorry for me having heard my story. However, I am always first to confide with them and make them know that my challenges are not meant to be my downfall. They are paving ways to widening my thinking scope to capture a wider horizon and be a responsible individual in the future. My challenges to them always make them happy and optimistic seeing the optimism in me. I am therefore positive that if considered and granted the opportunity in the university, I am positive my life will be completely transformed to help illumine the life of others. This will therefore be a blessing and lifetime opportunities to me to enable me achieve my dreams.
