The greatest contribution of any organization is the supply chain and logistics which increases the pace of globalization. (Business Intelligence, 2012) The freedom score of the United Arab Emirates’ is 71.4% making it the 28th freest in the 2014 index. It is for this reason the UAE is ranked second in the Middle East. With an objective of further growth, the UAE recently organized a Global Logistics and Supply Chain Summit in Dubai. The main aim of the meeting was to address the challenges which are faced by the industry. While addressing the delegation senior Director Atiq J. Nassib, emphasized that the sector is the integral part of the economy, it has maintained its growth even during the hard times. The 5th summit attracted many delegates from across the world panelists as well speakers across the region. The main theme of the summit was innovation, infrastructure and growth. For many years, the country has been faced with a lot of infrastructure challenges this issues should be fixed (Business Intelligence, 2012).
The Problem of the article
The main issue of concern in the meeting was on how to expand the supply chain net work given that the country has experienced stiff competition from the neighboring countries like Iraq. From the analysis, the country has significantly lost business for the last nine month. In addition to that, the leadership of Dubai is considering exploring other options. It has relied so much on supply chain business and it is important to consider other options. Another problem is dominance in the business; most of the businesses are controlled by families leaving no option for outside investors. This is a major factor leading to the country losing the business.

What makes Dubai an ideal location for facilitating global trade and logistics and supply?
Recommendation:
In the term to analyze the current situation that is facing the supply chain and logistics group, it is important to scanning the Environment for analysis and intelligence. This should be the first step. So far we have identified that the UAE economy is serviced by a single industry, it is important to exploit other factors and help in contributing towards the country development.
Second Step is Designing Strategic Planning Process to match the Strengths with identified opportunities. It should include addressing weaknesses and threats that facing the supply chain and logistics group be best practice. It should consider leaving room for major investors to come and invest since they are likely to bring new ideas.

With a core objective of further growing the UAE’s logistics sector, Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) gathered industry experts from over 15 countries to the ‘5th Global Logistics and Supply Chain summit’ in Dubai last week. 5th Global Logistics and Supply Chain Summit 2012 with the most relevant theme “innovation, infrastructure and growth” attracted speakers, panelist and over 200 delegates from across UK, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Mauritius and Hungary. The summit included key note speeches, expert panel discussions and 8 delivery tracks to communicate case studies, experience and expertise to benefit the industry.
