The Problem of the article
The main issue of concern in the meeting was on how to expand the supply chain net work given that the country has experienced stiff competition from the neighboring countries like Iraq. From the analysis, the country has significantly lost business for the last nine month. In addition to that, the leadership of Dubai is considering exploring other options. It has relied so much on supply chain business and it is important to consider other options. Another problem is dominance in the business; most of the businesses are controlled by families leaving no option for outside investors. This is a major factor leading to the country losing the business.
Asking the class for a solution
What makes Dubai an ideal location for facilitating global trade and logistics and supply?
Recommendation:
In the term to analyze the current situation that is facing the supply chain and logistics group, it is important to scanning the Environment for analysis and intelligence. This should be the first step. So far we have identified that the UAE economy is serviced by a single industry, it is important to exploit other factors and help in contributing towards the country development.
Second Step is Designing Strategic Planning Process to match the Strengths with identified opportunities. It should include addressing weaknesses and threats that facing the supply chain and logistics group be best practice. It should consider leaving room for major investors to come and invest since they are likely to bring new ideas.

Supply Chain and logistics is identified as a great contributor to the bottom-line of any organization. Increased pace of globalization, changing speed of business, ever changing technological space and emerging economies (in Asia, BRICS, Danube region in Europe) require continuous transformation of supply chain for organizations in all industry vertical and hence the summit is developed to transfer knowledge content of applicable tools, processes and technologies to the participants that can be leveraged for quick, short term, mid - term and long term goals within their organizations.
“Global economy is stabilizing. With increased globalization and offshore sourcing, global supply chain management is becoming an important part of many businesses. Like traditional, supply chain management, the underlying factors behind the trend are reducing the costs of procurement and decreasing the risks related to purchasing activities. The big difference is that global supply chain management involves a company's worldwide interests and suppliers rather than simply a local or regional orientation.
"Furthermore innovative technology always helps in gaining a competitive edge. SCLG believes that this is the time to bring more focus on best business process and technology solutions in order to build a platform for the upcoming bullish economy.
