The Inconvenient Truth is a documentary movie from Philip Davis Guggenheim, an American film director and producer. He is well known for his professional approach and has produced and directed three documentaries in addition to score of other movies. He has the honor of being one of those filmmakers who released three different documentaries ranked within the top 100 highest-grossing documentaries of all time. This paper describes the movie in second paragraph, an evaluation of the movie in next five paragraphs and a conclusion in last paragraph.
The Inconvenient Truth is about the threat of global warming and persuasively interlaces the science of global warming with Mr. Al Gore's individual account and lifetime pledge of drawing back the special effects of global climate variation. In this movie, Mr. Al Gore presents different facts and information in a very thought-provoking and convincing manner. He starts off with the politics and in a very absorbing way, compels audience to draw deductions by themselves. In order to compensate for the boredom created due to the statistics and argument strategies in the movie, different issues related to global warming are explained by the help of colorful graphics like cartoons and graphs. The Inconvenient Truth highlights that last fourteen years had the ten warmest years of the history. It includes images of Hurricane Katrina and other internnational disasters around the world have also been referred to. Movie also shows a trivial violence where ozone is attacking sunbeams, a frog is almost boiling and a polar bear is unable to find solid ice to rest.
An Inconvenient Truth is a success as it encourages people to stand up and protect the earth at all costs, as an obligation. It educates people about what is happening to the mother Earth and its environment due to global warming. This film also gives an insight to the Parents about scientific, political, and social matters contiguous to global warming and ecological pollution which the future generation is expected to face in the years down the line. This film is the first of its kind which persuades people and organizations to contribute towards reducing the threat of global warming.
As a documentary “The Inconvenient Truth” is a better movie and it has all the elements to be a successful documentary and it did attract the audience in large numbers. It did create the awareness amongst the international audience about the threat of global warming and part to be played by everyone in tumbling the threat. Matters of of human life affecting the environment has been exposed by this documentary. The documentary is referred as one of the hits which has greatly achieved its objective of creating awareness amongst the international audience. Inclusion of colors, bit of violence and sadness has made this documentary a movie to be remembered.
The Inconvenient Truth is a good movie as it is the first carbon-neutral documentary film. The company “Native Energy” has even shared the details of emissions caused due to carbon footprint for the film production, and emissions related to the travel, office and accommodation and their contribution towards global warming.
There is one error identified in the documentary by the critics. In the slide of ice core graph, about 20 minutes from the start of the documentary, the numbers on the y-axis are wrong; average is at 0.5 and the negative numbers are flipped. Thus the slide is wrong and may mislead the viewers; however, the same graph is correct in the book.
The Inconvenient Truth has been able to raise the awareness amongst the international audience and people today understand their contributions towards global warming. The movie has changed people’s mindset about the issue and has helped a great deal towards a better world of tomorrow.
