In the article, What is Inspiration, David Brooks seeks to convey the essence of making an effort to achieve what one wants through hard work. He makes reference to multiple authors to enforce the credibility of his arguments. In a large section of the article, he integrates inspiration with hard work and explains how these aspects are interdependent. Specifically, a lot of dedication on the completion of a task can lead to fatigue and lack of interest. However, good inspiration keeps one from breaking from the work sequence and to advance in achieving their goals through hard work. Brooks’ argument is essential to the social context as it informs the public of the importance drawing inspiration from environmental aspects for the betterment of their performance.
