Animation has been one of the most effective media product for a long time. Within time, the world development and the internet popularization made animation and media available to everyone. Animation is a very creative tool, which shows many different content to children, youth, adults and everyone. Moreover, animation can send massages in very creative and phenomenal way. This instrument has been used in many fields like multimedia, TV ads, web design, teaching programs and some else media products. It is obvious that in Japan and America are the biggest producers of animation in the world. Knowing that animation is really efficient, Arab countries has been producing children comics and magazines since a long time ago. In addition, in recent days they started to create animated cartoons not only for children, but for the wide range audience. Before that Arab animation producers noticed that the Japanese and American animation is very popular in the Arab world. That is why Arabs decided that they need animation that represents Arab culture and their history.
In the old days, magazines and comics were very popular among children and adults in Arab countries. For children magazines and comics were one of the most entertaining things for children. One of the Best Arabic Children magazines was Majid magazine based in Abu-Dhabi, the first issue of which was in 1979. Two more popular ones are Basim Magazine based in Saudi Aradia from the 1987 and Baraem aleman magazine based in Kuwait, the first issue of which was in 1975. Some of them are weekly magazines and the others come out monthly. They also have different goals like culture, religion, education, entertainment etc.
With the development of the world, Arab countries started to set up animation studios and companies. Myrkott company is the leading animation studio in Saudi Arabia. It specializes in creating powerful local content for Saudi Arabian audience and the gulf in both 2D and 3D formats (Myrkott Animation, web page). The Myrkott company was founded in 2014. Since that time it transforms reality from real events into animated enjoyable frames. One more company is Fanar production company, which was established in 2008 by Adnan Omar Al Obthani, Managing Director, and Haidar Mohamed, Co-Founder and General Manager. First of all, Fanar Production began with a dream to create and deliver both compelling and high quality entertainment through computer-generated animation (CG). Every Fanar Project is based on capturing the spirit of Emirati culture, traditions and lifestyle, and spreading it across the multi-cultural population living in the UAE and the region (About Fanar Production, web source). Also, Sketch in Motion Animation Studio was founded in 2007, it has developed several cartoon series that focused on local stories (Sketch in Motion Profile, web source).
Some of the recent works of animation were made by Barajoun Entertainment, which is a leading animation and visual effects studio based in Dubai. They created Bilal film, which was the first animation movie (Bilal, web source). Another interesting show is Freej television show for children, which was also made in the UAE (Saadi, web source).
