Blindness as a form of illiteracy is a subject that has featured most in the article. This can be termed as ignorance, which distinguishes the wise from the foolish and the young from the old. There is however no ultimate for knowledge and hence making people to die before they are informed of all the mysteries of the world. Learning is a process whose rate and speed depends on many factors. One of the factors is need, the other curiosity and exposure. All this process takes place in the mind, which will process events and finally come up with a solution. Experience is also another important feature that mostly comes with age and the level at which a person is exposed. There are various reasons to explain why there is no balance in life. Even though many people relate it to luck and environment, exposure and need plays an important role in determining how well a mind will process a solution. “but whether true or false, my opinion is that in the world of knowledge the idea of good appears last of all, and is seen with an effort; and when seen, is also inferred to be the universal author of all things beautiful and right” (Mind-1-pdf file 453).
There is a reason why some people are richer than others are while others have more knowledge than the others do. Happiness is what each person strives to find yet there is no particular formula to it. The poor fellow will always feel that they will be happy if they obtain certain basic needs. On the other hand, the rich fellow will think that they will be happy if they gained more control of the resources. The fact is that human beings will never be satisfied at anything as they keep yearning for more with each achievement. Happiness is a personal decision of which anybody and whatever state can achieve. It is however, the blindness they have and the obsession they have towards immaterial things that make it impossible for many to achieve this state.
Most people who come to realize that happiness is a treasure that needs to be dug deep within their souls are those who have been exposed to various circumstances. After having a taste of what they thought would guarantee them absolute happiness in vain, they conclude that they have been searching for it far away when they had the power to do so. “Plato held that Eros leads individuals to revere the body and its pleasures; but the thrust of his teaching is a metaphor for spiritual delights” (Mind-1-pdf file 449)
This may not be an easy teaching to the young and those who have not been exposed as they feel they have to gain something for them to be happy and free. It will therefore take some experience and exposure for them to realize that all the answers they need is in their minds. The role of information and exposure is just to bring to light what is hidden within their mind. As they go through school and the different stages of life, they realize that there is actually nothing new to learn but simply remember.
Philosophy and philosophical thinking may not make sense to an ordinary mind. “This view of reality has long been important to philosophers because it gives a philosophical basis to antimaterialistic thought” (Mind-1-pdf file 447). This is because it remains theoretical until when applied. Since human beings seek only for knowledge when they need it, they may feel that was being proclaimed is not applicable for them. For instance, a child who was born in a rich family may not understand poverty and not apply the principles of being delivered from the same. It will happen naturally to them that as they grow in such an environment, they will acquire the skills they required. This hence explains whey there us a constant gap between the poor and the rich. The poor do not understand how to be rich and the rich do not understand how to be poor.
