Sarah Anne Johnson’s photography exhibit embodies the tranquil landscapes, beautiful color contrasts, kaleidoscope colors, and unworldly setting. The majority of her prints still retain the realistic aspect of her subjects. For example, photograph titled Adventure created in 2015 consists of polychromatic pigments of light violet, green, and golden yellow but these colors are implied and blurred. The Yellow Dinosaur which is a man-made swimming pool within the forest. The colors in this photo are polychrome which gives it depth and realistic appearance despite being a photograph. Another image from the collection called Pink Forest was a photograph combined with chromogenic print and acrylic pigments, in this picture, the scenery looks entirely pink with minimum splashes of green color. At the center of the image, three naked bodies walking along the narrow moss covered path. The vanishing point on the center creates the three-dimensional illusion of a longer and much wider road. The scale of the body is proportioned to the distance from the camera as well as to limbs. Another picture included in the collection was the Painted Ladies which a very unusual photograph that combines realistic figures yet the faces have distorted appearances like those of a monster to hide their appearances from the camera. For coloring, the artist applied oil paints to the surface of the chromogenic print. Meanwhile, other chromogenic images from the collection such as Aura, Chilling at the Void, Uck, and Hanging Flowers and Blue Ribbon were more like photographic still-life images of living things. The beauty of all these prints lies on the process in which they were made, the process of chromogenic printing wherein colored dyes were applied on the surface of the image to give it more vibrant colors. All pictures from the collection still retain the realistic aspect but successfully combine other artistic styles in order to create a new design.
