This article talks about the need which has arose about the need for the leaders of the companies (managers) to meet all the needs of the modern process of globalization. It explains how to train international managers who can meet the modern needs. The globalization is a change towards more interdependent and integrated world economy. It has three components: globalization of markets, globalisation of production and development of cross border institutions that want to increase their trade.
Specifically the author is talking about the rise of 4 countries Brazil, Russia, China and India. He calls this process the rise of BRCIs. The author describes how in these countries there is a bright prospect for investment. These countries have become the places of interest of many international joint ventures. He compares these countries to other successfully developed economically countries of the world. With such a fast development in these countries the organizations need international managers. However, they face many challenges. Some of them are strategic geopolitical issues, working in multinational teams, ethical and environmental considerations, the vulnerability of global supply chains, language skills, response to the local preferences. These all factors mean that international managers should be rather flexible and less conservative in the way they manage their employees. It is very interesting to see how people are getting adjusted to all the processes of the globalization in the worlds.
As a conclusion, the author states about the necessity of certain adjustments that the UK managers may face. All of the managers in the world face certain difficulties and challenges with such a rapid development of the economies. The author emphasizes the importance of UK to be able to stay on the global arena and be able to be a strong competitor in the world.
