List some examples of your recent personal behavior and trace their sources. Are you your own invention? Explain
When analyzing certain events that happened recently in my life, I understand that some of them were indeed influenced by the myth of the individual described in this article. In fact, I see that today it is difficult not to be influenced by this myth, as its traces can be found all around us – in the advertisements, films, thoughts expressed by friends and classmates. Below I will try to analyze a couple of instances of my personal behavior and show that despite proving that I am one of the victims of the myth of individual, I am still my own invention.
One of the first examples is the fact that I remember that when choosing clothes I often gave preference to those brands that use this myth in advertising. There were several situations when I liked items of other brands more, but as they were unknown for me I chose the ones I heard of and it was especially pleasant for me to by production of those who told me that in that clothes I will be individual. Now I understand that it was a perfectly chosen marketing strategy that influenced my choice.
Still, I don’t think that I was unoriginal by becoming a victim of this myth. I remember that I have never chosen anything just on the basis of this desire to be individual. Instead, I usually try to understand in what way my choice will influence my life and act accordingly. If I see that it will be useful for me, I usually choose it. So, I believe that I am my own invention.
